Description of Issue

I can run Roon quite successfully from my laptop on the wired network but my iPhone and iPad will not connect to my Roon core.
I have turned off my VPN, turned off my firewall and roon.exe and raatserver.exe appear to be allowed inbound on the firewall (screenshot attached)
I have checked the allow connections from remotes in the Roon settings

I get a message to Choose your Roon Core with an option to select a Linux server on my Antipodes K50. There is a green light indicating it is ready.
I have never had the core installed on the Antipodes. If I choose connect, it tells me I already have another core (which I am all too well aware of) but no option to connect to that core.

In the past, I have had no problem in connecting to Roon via iPad or iPhone but seems to have been a problem after I installed the VPN and I think I may have tried to connect to a different Core to get around the problem.
Now I have discovered that Nord VPN causes all kinds of issues with most of my devices, I turn it off when trying to play music.

Sometimes Wifi networks can become their own separate network ( a different set of IP numbers), the first thing I would suggest is to check that the IP numbers of your mobile devices which cannot reach the core are on the same subnet as the Core’s IP (aka the first three number groups match: aaa.bbb.ccc.xxx where xxx should be unique numbers. So, usually, an internal network IP range for the aaa.bbb.ccc section would be something like this. 192.168.1.x As long as the first three number groups match then the devices are on the same network subnet. This a requirement for Roon.)

Thanks for the suggestion. The iPad IP address is 192.168.0.xxx. All of the wired equipment has an IP address commencing with 192.168.0 so that does not seem to be the issue.

@Chris_Robinson Is your W11 laptop Roon Core set to “Private” in Windows Network settings?

Hello Robert,

That sounds like a good thought. I am not sure how to find this out.

This page might provide some instruction How to Make Network Private or Public in Windows 11

Hi Daniel,

Thank you very much for this link. My network was saved to Public so I have changed this to Private given my laptop is a personal one used at home. This has fixed the issue.
I am afraid I am fairly clueless about networks so all the help has been very beneficial.

Many thanks
