Description of Issue

I can not for the life of me connect server to synology DS214 nas. The NAS is on raid configursation so i am typing the path as

\synology/volume1/flac music

i get variuos messages like path not recognised or not authorised. I have followed your very helpful online tutorials and believe I have SMB and sharing set up right. I can open the folder manually on windows file explorer and the share seems to be working.

I have treid connect with the IP address from roon, but no success.

I ahve music on the server laptop set up and roon plays it fine and is clearly working.

Could you please help?

Many thanks

Richard

Well, that’s not the correct syntax…

try \\synology\flac music or smb://synology/flac music

Assuming your NAS is called synology

Thanks for the quick response Geoff, and apologies for my delay in replying.

I had tried all the syntax variations many times using this support link

but did not realise I had to omit “volume 1”, which comes up on the path when I look at it.

Obviously, I typed your recommendation and it worked.

Many thanks for your help.

Richard
