Changes to BBC Radio station streaming

Thanks - on the right track there. It turns out the problem was that my Roon Server is running on a Synology NAS and the bundled ffmpeg binary doesn’t cover all codecs.
I injected a downloaded amd64 binary into a folder on the NAS, restarted the server and it came good.
Probably an edge case here but this might be useful for any other Synology users out there.

Good news.

We’ve come across the issue before, which is why I mentioned it. A bit late now, as you have solved it yourself, but if others come here, this site is useful.

Yeah, bit of a RTFM for me there! Although to be fair, I don’t think I’ve been back to that developer page since I did the initial install a few years ago.

While still grateful for @BrianW’s efforts I am beginning to wonder if the BBC have done me a favour by “moving my cheese”. To more or less replicate the functionality of the Rose’s onscreen radio “button” I dug out my old Squeezebox, which can get quickly to one station by switching on and then choosing a preset favourite-all with an old school IR remote so phone or tablet doesn’t need to be on hand. What I didn’t expect is that LMS also talks to the Rose, even without the Airplay extension being installed in LMS. I think it must be communicating over UPnP/DLNA, possibly as an undocumented feature of the Rose. Remarkably, if I switch off the Rose with Radio 3 playing, and switch it on the next morning it takes maybe 10-20 seconds and then happy resumes live play, and being a Sounds clone this is allows rewinding. Obviously the display info is a bit sparse and I don’t believe the sampling rate etc but I’ll enjoy this for as long as it lasts …

You can now also step backwards through recent tracks - will need a controller UI to do it though.

Thanks @Paul_Webster. I have Squeezepad and iPeng, and Squeezelite-X on office Windows i7 laptop (which is also where my Roon is hosted) so will be making much use of features like that. LMS is running extraordinarily well on a 10 year old HP Pavilion PC that had Linux installed a few years ago, though I’m sure part of the stability is that it does v little else except host Plex. So my thanks go out to all the people such as yourself who have made LMS such a continuing resource.

[Edit: Liked the screen it shows when play has been transferred up to my office by the Music Walk With Me app …
