Chord 2go brought back to life

Hi roon community,

I would like to share my pathway to bring my broken Chord 2Ggo back to life:

⁃ two moths ago my 2go stopped working (the unit turned itself off while being connected to a power source)
⁃ opening the 2go revealed a swollen battery and a lose Micro USB charging port

⁃ After looking up the battery ID, I found the battery on Alibaba and ordered 4 sample batteries (US$16 and US$50 shipping to Australia)
Blue Taiyang LP114055 2850mah 3.7v (the battery has the correct connector that fits the 2go board connector) - please see below:

⁃ I also ordered a new Micro USB charging port on Aliexpress (type 9 7.2mm is required) - please see below
100pcs Micro USB mini Connector 5pin 5.9mm 6.4mm 7.2mm short needle 5P DIP2 Data port Charging port for Mobile end plug V8 Port

⁃ I dropped off the 2go at my local micro soldering service (Seki Gadgets awesome service and work) for the Micro USB charging port to be reinstalled.

⁃ After this was completed, I installed the new battery and reassembled the 2go and et voilà the 2go is working again…

I am sharing my experience as I was quoted AU$355 for the battery and AU$350 labour to install the battery by my local dealer.

This was not acceptable, and I also hate to produce E-waste because of high component and labour costs.

I hope the above helps to bring back your 2go to life!

Cheers,

Andreas
