Chord Mojo 2 power button only works when connected to power

Just got my mojo 2 + poly second hand from ebay. I charged it up, and it says its fully charged. I unplug it and press the power button for 5 seconds. Nothing lights up, nothing happens. I plug it back in and it indicates its fully charged and I hold the power button and it turns on. I unplug it as its on and it doesn’t stay on. All the lights go out. Holding the power button doesn’t do anything when its not plugged in.

Any ideas why its not working? Worst case scenario I return it through ebay and get my money back.

That isn’t correct. Sounds like some type of battery / connection problem.

Your next stop if you want help would be Chord support - sounds like it needs repair.

But I expect you should just return it.

Yeah I think the battery is completely dead. Bummer.

From the manual (might be worth a try?):

If following a period of inactivity the device fails to power-on (suggesting a severely depleted battery) then the device needs to be recharged overnight, with the unit switched off.

and another thing to try (not sure if it will help with battery meter?, again maybe worth a shot?):

7.7 Restore factory settings
Mojo 2 features a factory reset mode that restores the device to the original factory settings: DSP flat and Crossfeed off. To reset the device, press both the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ simultaneously from either the DSP menu mode, or the Crossfeed menu mode.

These had a habit of failing batteries but not in the scenario you are experiencing.
They tended to swell up and die, unless it is a swollen and overheated battery?
Have you checked it physically?

You can get a replacement generic battery for it at around $25.
If you got a good deal I would ask the eBay seller to help you out on replacement cost.
Or just send it back…lol.

Physically it looks fine, no swelling. Where would you suggest buying the generic battery?

Thanks, when I plug it in, it obviously automatically turns on and I wait for it to finish and then I turn it off and it goes from the flashing blue light to the purple light. I think this means that its at almost full charge and its regulating right? Either way I’ll just leave it like this overnight and see what happens.

eBay or Amazon are safe bets.
See what it is like tomorrow after @bearFNF suggestions.
Then I would message the seller see if they are willing to help with cost.
If not return it.

Here’s the “battery indicator” paget from the manual:

Does it change between purple/light while charging?
Your charger does not provide enough power if thats the case.

My Hugo 2 is very picky about which charger i use with it, if it doesn’t like it, it goes between purple charge light and light blueish in a constant hunt to select charge mode (but doesn’t actually charge much at all)

Yep I’ve been reading it and trying to see if theres any indication of my specific scenario or any scenario like this online but no luck. I’ve been charging it for 6-7 hours now and still seemingly isn’t holding a charge.

I found them very helpful.

I agree here :+1:

Thanks I’ve contacted them

Dropbox link to what i’m seeing. Plugged in overnight and it was constantly the purple status. Unplugged and won’t start up but will start up fine when plugged in.

Nope, it stays permanently flashing blue or purple. I don’t think its even charging.

I only have the Hugo2, so might be mistaken here. Please try another PSU?

Unfortunately they aren’t sure whats wrong either and advised to return it as the only other option would be to send it in for repair which would cost $$

I has similar advice - although in my case it worked out well. The seller had previously had the Poly serviced by Chord in the US. The seller paid postage - and I returned it to Chord UK - where they checked the situation and decided to repair the problem under warranty from the US repair!

But i was lucky with both Chord’s service - and the seller!

I’ve ended up as a bit of a fan boy with Mojo/Poly - Mojo2/Poly - Hugo2/2Go & 2Yu/2Go in various places.
