Describe the issue

Since the last update (7/18), my Chord Poly either won't connect or stops connecting to Roon during playback. Server is running on Mac Mini (M1) using macOS 14.5. I've tried restarting the Roon Server, restarting my Asus network, doing a factory reset on the Chord Poly. The Poly has been running flawlessly for over a year.

Hi @Rob_Welles,

Thank you for your post. The unnatural dropout we can observe in logs occurs after sufficient packet loss has accumulated between RAATServer and the Poly that playback stream stops to avoid audible disruption.

When Roon Remote instructs RoonServer (the Mac Mini) to re-initiate playback to the Poly, RAATServer (also the Mac Mini) has no network path visible to the Poly.

Do you have any mesh nodes or access points in your network setup? How are you connecting the Poly specifically to the network? What I’ve described above most commonly indicates WiFi interference some in the network path between the Mac Mini and your networked Zones.

In logs, we also observe other Zones stopping mid-playback due to network-related failures.

We’ll keep an eye out for your response and provide next steps from there. Thank you!

Thanks, Connor!!

I’ve also had issues using my 2Go/2Yu via WiFi. Those seemed to clear up after I reloaded the Roon software. That’s what you may be seeing. Yes, I have a mesh network. The 2nd node is hard-wired to the router. I have not had dropouts when switching nodes. My Mac Mini is also hard-wired.

My Poly is now connected and running!

Poly stopped running a few minutes ago.

It still connects to Apple Music.

It seems that my issues were caused by a recent router update. Once I manually set IP addresses for my Chord products, everything pings fine and streaming is uninterrupted.

Hi @anon37652117,

As it turns out, my connection issues had nothing to do with a Roon update. Rather, it was due to a router firmware update. I strongly suggest that you use your router software to manually set the Poly’s IP address, not DHCP.

It seems highly unlikely that an update to Roon is making your Poly/Mojo2 get hotter. If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, summer time temps are probably the cause.
