Denon AVC-X4700H with Chromecast Ultra (HDMI)
Description Of Issue
When using Roon on the above configuration, everything starts automatically: selecting the chromecast device starts up the AV Receiver and music starts playing. However it’s not simple (I haven’t found how) to “stop casting” from within Roon - I have to go to the Google Home app, select the device and do “stop casting” from there.
I would think that Roon should do this - other casting applications can initiate casting ànd stop casting. Maybe it can, but I haven’t found how.
I had the case where Roon continued casting and the Chromecast device didn’t accept another app’s request.
Hello @Danny_Smalle, and welcome to the community! You can stop a display in the same place where you start it. If you click the volume Icon, then the monitor icon, the following menu allows you to start or stop the display.
That’s not it I think: when I do this, the display is replaced by a black screen with “Roon” but the music continues. What I want is that music+display stops. The same as what I achieve by going to the Google Home app, selecting the Chromecast and “stop casting”.
Maybe it’s better if I explain my setup: I have an AV-receiver with TV-decoder and TV connected to it, and the chromecast is also in one of the HDMI inputs of that receiver. I cast to that chromecast from Tidal, I can stop casting when I want. When casting from Roon it can’t stop, or at least I haven’t found how. I use the Google Home app to do that - but if I have to explain this to other household members…
Hello @Danny_Smalle, my apologies for the misunderstanding, I thought you were using the Chromecast as a display and not an endpoint. In that case, you can start casting from another device to the Chromecast and that device will take priority, or you can pause playback in Roon. Since Roon is selecting the Chromecast as an endpoint, it will remain as your endpoint until powered off or switched to a different endpoint.
