To reply to myself here, Im loving Starfield.

I know its getting mixed reviews but I am having a blast with it. Approaching 100 hours in and currently on level 40, Im really keen to keep trucking with it. If you enjoy space sim, exploration with some nice RPG elements all wrapped up in a good looking package, you could do a lot worse then giving it a whirl.

Edit: added some pics

I will play it at some point, I have it on my list! Those screen shots look great!

I am still on Cyberpunk, wandering around enjoying it. My first play-through was a rush, so want to explore more this time.

Currently on my third playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3. A real kaleidoscope of a game with completely different twists and turns dependent on the roll of dice and your decisions. The lead characters are fully fleshed out. My favourite is Astarion with Gale a close second. A well-deserved GOTY.

I just started a Honor run through because I want those golden dice! LOL. Although, for us old gamers there is a very old school way of save scumming.

As typical for Bethesda games, I’ve giving Starfield awhile to mellow out. I gave Skyrim over a decade before playing it. It just sat there on the shelf waiting for all the DLC, bug fixes and mods to come out.

I’ ve got good memories playing Myst (1993 … :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:). Looking towards Baldur’s Gate 3 (Larian Studios is in my home town), but before that I need a PS2 or something…

Wow :hushed:, Where do you find the time @Geoff_Coupe
I’d love to get into a game such as this but late a night when all my family are in bed is the only time and then I’d be ruined for days

I’ve managed to build a massive dinosaur park in Jurassic Park Evolution 2 for my 5 year old son, he loves hatching all the most fierce carnivorous dinosaurs and setting them free.

You make an excellent point…time…finding time when every day is getting shorter, never seem to find the time. Plans either come to naught or half a page of scribbled rhymes.

For sure Starfield has its issues, although they have already released two updates that address the most egregious ones. Im playing on Xbox and PC, and I havent had any serious problems. The odd graphical glitch but nothing that renders the game unplayable or any quests irretrievably broken. It is in a much more playable state on release than any previous Bethesda game I have seen. I dont think you’ll need to wait a decade this time!

Ah, don’t think I’ll wait that long either. But, waiting is not a bad practice with any video game. Look at No Man’s Sky, it was horrible as a Day 1 purchase which I did. Now that it is has been improved with tons of updates, I still can’t go back to it as it left such a bad initial impression.

Heck even with BG3, I got to Act 3 and then stopped. Why? Because I ran into some things that needed fixing. And, knowing the company, I knew that there would be a ton of fixes/improvements coming. So, why give myself an initial bad impression. Its not like there are a…ton…of…other…games to occupy myself in the interim. Like finishing Baldur’s Gate 2. Or, finishing my Dragon Age Inquisition playthrough. Or even finishing Skyrim. I’ve gotten to level 80 and I haven’t even started the main quest, lol.

As I mentioned, I also started an Honor play through of BG3 and already notice a ton of visual and other improvements in that early stage. Plus, that mode really changes fights up. The opponents will act like PCs in that they will target spellcasters first and if someone goes down, they will keep shooting to immediately kill them.

I started gaming at home in 82 and still game almost every day in winter. less so when the weather is better.
My preferred platform is PC. but i do have a PS5. I like my toys.
I do mod games a lot and also design mods for EA sports games such as Fifa.
At present I am doing Origins again. I have modded this and play at around 8.5k resolution. It looks so good. I love the wandering around causing mayhem.
yes i am a gaming addict. I will be playing later today then there will be a christmas break.
Happy gaming

I thought I would post on Starfield again. Mainly because I am still enjoying it, and also have a ton of new screenshots grabbed via its Photo Mode;

Baldur’s Gate 3

  1. Main Playthrough paused in Act 3 to allow time for bug fixes.
  2. Honor Mode Playthough (I want those dice), paused in Act 1 although I have figured out how to save and restore Honor Mode.
  3. Dual Playthrough with a friend, In Act 1. So much fun playing with someone else at the same time. I"d love to getup a 4 person play through. Multi-player is very well thought through and implemented.

IN the mean time, I purchased Wartales and am nearly finished after 180 hours of play.

I’ve just completed Hogwarts Legacy, I am severely addicted, playing into the early hours of the morning.

I haven’t played a game all the way through since the original Tomb Raider and Resident Evil games, even then it was a joint effort with a mate.

Previous to my PS5 purchase I had a PS2 a long time ago and I haven’t played games since then and even with the PS5 I haven’t played around other than with my children.

I absolutely love the world of Hogwarts Legacy and didn’t want it to end, although I guess I’m glad it did so that I can start living again . I am still going back in and wandering around fighting dark wizards, trolls, goblins and poachers.

It’s been many years since I’ve played D&D style RPG’s. And having played games like Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights I thought it was time to try a new game.

So I’ve bought Baldur’s Gate 3 last night. Biggest download ever… 150 gb for a single game. I really got to test my Internet connection speed with this one. 61 mb/sec. Works as advertised.

I have spent an hour going through the character creation. So many options for customization. And I have settled for a female High Elf Cleric.

I’ve started playing the introduction quests when I had to call it a day.

The game itself runs really well on my ASUS gaming laptop. Even though it’s not the most recent one.

10th gen Intel i7 CPU, GeForce GTX 1650ti with 4 gb memory and 16 gb RAM installed. Playing on the connected 27 inch Full HD screen.

Now to find the time to play the game between work and the rest. And being used to MMO’s I have to get used again to turn based gameplay with a limited amount of movement and spell mechanics. And being lucky me…. Dice rolls…
