Description of Issue

I added an album to Roon and entered the metadata manually. When adding the credits I kept running into the following issue. I’ll use one player as an example, but the same behavior happened for most of the other players, as well. Using Edit credits > Choose Artist I type in the artist’s name - in this case “Neil Innes.” I am presented two copies of the same name. This is something that happens occasionally and I am always able to search for the artist and merge the two versions.

After choosing one of the Neil Innes and adding bass, I see the credit as expected here…

and here…

I then searched for the artist expecting to find two copies. Instead, there is one Artist and one Composer.

Of course, I am unable to merge them. Then, and this happens whether I choose the first or second Neil Innes when adding them as a credit, the Composer shows the album I just added them to as bassist (I did not add them as composer and the album was unidentified, so there shouldn’t be a composer credit at all)…

but the Artist doesn’t. It just shows the other albums I have that he plays on…

What might be causing this behavior and what is the best remedy?

Thanks!

I’ve moved your post from the Support category of the forum across to the Roon Software Discussion category. The Support team deal with problems and issues in Roon setups, rather than how best to use Roon. In the Roon Software Discussion category, Community members generally help each other out, so you should get some suggestions here.

There are, as you can see, two Neil Innes artists known to Roon. I suspect that that composer credit should be associated with Neil James Innes, member of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and the Rutles, rather than Neil Innes, bassist of The Sorcerers.

Thanks Geoff. That was what it was. The thing that confused me is I already had the Bonzo Neil Innes in the database (the other one in my screenshots). Problem solved now.
