I would appreciate some clarification regarding how Profiles are related to a Roon account versus an individual Roon Server when multiple servers are connected to the same account.

My understanding is that a Profile appears to be associated with both the account and the individual server, which makes the behavior somewhat confusing.

**Background / Use Case**

I currently have three Roon Servers connected to the same Roon account (email address). I use Profiles on all three servers.

I originally started with a single server and created six Profiles based on a combination of music genres and family members.

Later, I added a second server and moved the watched folders for two of those Profiles to that server. A third server is now added and dedicated to another Profile focused on one specific genre.

Each server is connected to a different Qobuz account.

What I observe:
It appears that Profiles are primarily tied to the Roon account rather than to an individual server:

* When I create a new Roon Server and connect it to my Roon account, all six Profiles that were originally created on Server 1 automatically appear on the new server.
* If I change the picture for a Profile on one server, the picture is updated on the other two servers as well.
* If I create a new Profile on one server, it eventually appears on the other servers too.
* When using a Roon Remote, if I switch from one server to another, the destination server automatically changes to the same active Profile that was selected on the previous server.
* The Daily Picks for a Profile appear to combine the play and library activity from all three servers, which is not what I expected.

**Additional observations:**
* Each server maintains its own play history for the Profiles while they are used on that specific server.
However, the Daily Picks are identical for the same Profile across all three servers, suggesting that this feature uses data shared across the account rather than data from the individual server.

**My questions:**
1) Is this the intended design?
2) Where does Roon Radio take it's information from, account (sum of profiles across servers) or local profile plays/bans/likes ?

For my use case, the three servers contain different music libraries, genres/user preferences, while sharing the same Roon Remotes (phones, tablets, and PCs).

Ideally, I would like Profiles to belong to each individual server rather than to the account. That would allow me to remove Profiles that are not used on a particular server and get Daily Picks only related to that Server.

At the moment, I do not dare to delete any unused Profiles because I am concerned that deleting a Profile on one server will also delete it from the other servers, along with its listening history and other associated data.

Could you clarify whether my understanding is correct, whether this is the intended behavior, and whether there is any recommended way to achieve a server-specific Profile setup ?

Yes, this is intended behavior. Profile data lives on the cloud server and is shared across servers, so a change made on one server affects all of them.

That means you should be very careful about deleting a Profile, since that action is irreversible.

Since this is not a current feature of Roon, I would recommend also posting your suggestion in the Feature Suggestions section of the site.

Our product team and developers keep a close eye on that category, so that’s definitely the best place to propose a change like this and get feedback from the Community.

Roon Radio’s recommendations are generated in the cloud from shared profile data, not only from the plays, bans and likes recorded on one server.

There is a setting that changes the selection path, Limit Roon Radio to Library, on the Queue screen under the three dots at the bottom right. Two things you should know before trying it, because it is blunter than it sounds. It applies per zone rather than per server, so you would need to set it on each zone individually. And with it on you are no longer using Roon Radio at all: it becomes a shuffle of that library, with none of the recommendation behavior. It also will not change your Daily Picks, which are generated outside your library by design.

So there is no setting today that gives you what you described, which is recommendations drawn only from one server’s library. That has been asked for before, as a bias-to-library control rather than an on or off switch, and it is worth adding your voice to it in Feedback > Feature Suggestions
