after the recent MacOS 15.4.1 update I can no longer connect to the Roon server. When I try to connect using the Roon app I am asked to login. After I login it tells me that I am already signed in and it looks like I've already set up another Roon server. There is a button for "Get more authorizations". I have been running Roon Server on this M4 Mac mini for several months without incident until this recent OS update
Thank you for your report. To summarize, RoonServer is possibly already running in the background, and as you’ve mentioned it’s undoubtedly installed, but Roon is attempting to automatically set up a new RoonServer instance after logging in.
We want to attempt to start Roon only as the GUI/control. First off, what happens if you select “Oops, I meant to run as a remote control?”
Another test would be to open Terminal from Applications → Utilities on this Mac and run Roon using a command. If Roon itself is installed in your Applications folder, you can start it with:
open ~/Applications/Roon.app
or
open -a "Roon"
Just to make sure - do you have a recent and reliable Backup of your RoonServer? Another heavy-handed way out of this situation would be to delete and reinstall RoonServer itself and then restore the Backup. This is slightly more complicated than a simple reinstall - we’ll pass along instructions shortly, but we’d first like to test what happens launching the GUI only above.
Which then takes me to the “You’re already signed in screen” - so basically going in circles.
launching from terminal gives me the same result. RoonServer is definitely already running in the background
If I try the Roon IOS app on my phone I get the same behavior
I have backups configured to happen automatically every 4 days but if I try to restore, the most recent is from 2 months ago. But if I look in the backups folder, there is a backup file from a couple days ago that won’t show up in the restore menu. I haven’t tried restoring yet because I didn’t want to lose the last couple months of changes

Toggle Roon and if applicable, Roon server, on both machines. Quit out of all Roon instances on both machines and restart them. Your computer should see the server again, the server should see itself again, and hopefully stop trying to set up a new instance.
Followed the directions, still no luck, same behavior. Client and server are running on the same machine - M4 Mac mini. Client recognizes server as seen in the screenshot above, but will not connect. When I try to connect it takes me to the login screen and then the “get more authorizations” screen.
Are you able to access your account from your internet browser on another machine and deauthorize the excess login sessions with the M4? Or even all logins to the M4?
As Roon uses your browser to authenticate you in the application, could you please open your browser, go to https://account.roonlabs.com/, and clear the cache and cookies?
Here’s a short guide on how to do this depending on the browser you are using:
For Safari (Mac):
Open Safari.
Click Safari in the top menu, then select Settings (or Preferences).
Go to the Privacy tab.
Click Manage Website Data.
Search for roonlabs.com and remove it, or click Remove All to clear all cache and cookies.
Restart Safari and try logging in again.
For Chrome (Windows/Mac):
Open Chrome.
Click the three dots menu in the top right corner.
Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data.
Under the Basic tab, select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
Set the Time range to All time.
Click Clear data.
Restart Chrome and try logging in again.
After clearing the data, please reopen Roon application and attempt to sign in again.
yeah that was my thought too. As soon as I clicked the “unauthorize” button it cleared right up and went back to functioning normal again. I didn’t try it right away since I was worried about messing up my installation. Thanks!
