I have a Mac Mini M1 2020 running the latest version from MacOs Sequoia. All other Roon devices are either iMacs or iPhones. One MacBookAir is connected to my home theater system connected via USB to play music. Since the updates to Sequoia I have several issues with the connection to the Roon server. The current state is, that the first connection of the day always fails with the message, that the Roon server can’t be found (happened today around 7:00 CET). To solve this I usually stop/start the WiFi connection from the MBA which usually helps. But sometimes the endpoints, like my Sonos and the USB-DAC of the HTS, are not displayed anymore. Then neither a WiFi nor a restart of the MBA helps. I always have to restart the Roon server on my MacMini, which usually helps, also this morning. But non of those problem I had before Sequoia. Unfortunately I’m a lifetime subscriber, so I can’t even simply end my subscription and switch to a different music player. In this current state Roon is simple not usable for me. And if I follow the problems they are there already for a quite long time, at least two month. That’s not acceptable (besides the other issues Roon has which I already addressed).
So, if somebody from the development guys reading this post, a fix to solve this annoying issue is highly appreciated.
Part of it is certainly that Apple chose to add additional lockdowns a very short time before they released Sequoia. It caught out not just Roon but others too.
Another part is that apparently macOS might not be showing a popup prompt to allow access when it should, and that application developers may need to make changes. Which is ok in principle, and maybe Roon could have been faster in doing this, but Apple should definitely have left more time.
