Correct Way to Safely Update? [Answered]

Instructions for the basic update from 1.8 to 2.0 state:

## How do I move to Roon 2.0 from Roon 1.8?

"When you’re ready to move to Roon 2.0, make sure to follow these steps:

1. Completely close out of Roon / RoonServer

2. Download the appropriate installer for your Core from the links below

3. Install and run"

Does this mean that allowing the Core to auto-update by triggering it from a remote is a bad idea or will cause issues?

Should you update the Core first and then let the remotes update?

I am only referring to Core and Remote, not ARC. I just want to make sure that my basic system will work before exploring ARC.

Thanks for any help!

Hi, @mourip, thank you for your question.

That section from the instruction is for users who were update to 2.0 because their devices are 2.0-compatible but the migrated from 2.0 back to 1.8 Legacy branch and then decided to move back to 2.0 again.

So, auto-update will happen in case you are running the latest 1.8 Stable 1105 build on your device and it’s a 2.0-compatible device. It’s safe. Remotes on mobile devices (iOS and Android) will have to be downloaded from App Store/Play Market manually in order to be able to connect to the latest 2.0 core.

Hope that helps.
