Jussi has been adding to the cloud based DAC corrections available in Matrix Post-process (Embedded 5.63). They are also available in the latest Desktop version.
I believe you may also need to be running NAA 5.0 to enable identification of DAC for correction, but not certain. I’m using NAA OS 5.02 on a Pi and HQP sees my Holo Spring on USB output and the DAC correction option shows up in Post-process.
So thankyou @jussi_laako for adding the Spring to the corrections.
However, apart from a newfound confidence in the output of the DAC, I’m not sure I’ve noticed a difference. What sort of audible changes should I be looking for ?
I initially made corrections for the RME ADI-2 Pro’s I have. But then I decided not to release those, as there are ADI-2’s out there with three different DAC chips. And I’m not sure how close the ADI-2 DAC is. And whether ADI-2 Pro is always AKM chip or if ESS is also to be found there. It’s a bit of a mess, since one needs to understand to check the serial number label on the back of the device to figure out. And I would need to possess all three generations to make corrections for each…
EVGA NU is certainly doable. I also have number of other devices on my “to be done” list.
I have the AKM version of the RME ADI-2 Pro. The RME ADI-2 Pro FS Black Edition never had an ESS version, as far as I’ve ever been able to acertain, and uses the AKM 4493.
Fantastic. Sadly not many people have heard it, but, for a PC Card, it sounds really good feeding studio monitors.
In order to use this DAC Correction feature on my Cyan 2, do I need to also check the pipeline checkbox at the top, or just check the DAC correction checkbox on the bottom?
Thanks.
It is good to use Client to check these kind of things. In latest releases the status is shown in Client.
In latest release I also fixed a bug where the correction couldn’t be turned off using profiles. So now profiles can be used to switch the correction on/off.
Hi Jussi,
I’ve noticed with HQP Embedded that when using sinc-MGa for 1x, AMSDM7EC 512+fs mod and DSD512 output the DAC correction (Holo Spring) gets turned off. It is still selected in the Web Configuration page but shown as disabled in the Client.
Is that intended for load purposes or some kind of bug ?
I have two AK4490 based ADI-2 Pro’s. I believe your ADI-2 DAC has AK4493, so whatever I have is not applicable to yours… Then there are those ESS-based models.
So there are ADI-2 Pro, ADI-2 DAC (probably close if using same chip) and three different chip models. So in order to have a proper correction set, I would need to have at least 3 - 5 different ADI-2’s?
