I have a iFi Zen Dac 2 Signature. If I go into Matrix Pipeline → Correction, it gives me the option of selecting iFi NEO iDSD. There don’t appear to be any sound issues if I do tick it.
Should I switch iDSD on for my DAC or should I leave to off?
You should leave it off when it doesn’t match your DAC model precisely. iFi uses same USB interface implementation on most of their DACs, so it is not possible to tell the models apart.
If the DAC model doesn’t match precisely, then the correction data is very likely wrong.
The issue I described above has stopped and the Client now shows DAC correction as enabled. I think it was something to do with the Client, which sometimes goes into a state where the meters are working but the buffer visual is static. Re-entering the server IP fixes it.
Metering is a separate dynamic connection established between Client and server. So if the server connection is not functioning properly, metering connection may still be successfully established.
Here’s an idea on the topic of DAC Corrections. Rather than sending Jussi a DAC to Finland, perhaps we can just make a wish list of DACs you would like to see a correction profile and interested party will make a contribution for Jussi to purchase the dac - i.e. ifi zen dac 3, NEO 2, Chord mojo 2, Laiv Harmony…
I currently don’t have any dacs I would like to see corrections for but I think each of us from Worldwide chipping in $10 - 15 and we get an improvement for our dac is quite reasonable.
Yesterday, the official 24H2 appeared for download on Microsoft’s website. I think +5-10% more performance. In the picture psgl super 512+ with all the goodies…
Oh, wow! I did not realize that. Looking at HQPlayer 5 Client I would have never guessed. Running Embedded Version 5.8.1 - and selecting AHM7EC5L shows “correction” as “enabled”. A bit confusing this, I would say…
