I wish the Roon Remote had a basic mode that duplicates the standard Ropieee display.
On a small tablet, the buttons are to difficult to press when sitting on a dock.

That’s a great point, even on a 10” tablet you have to hunt for the playback controls a bit. I keep an ipad near some of my ropieee displays and I find ropieee much easier to use to see what is playing or for basic playback controls.
The functionality is very limited but that becomes a strength in low touch scenarios where you don’t need to browse your library or look at settings.
You are a brave man to use an OLED TV as a Roon display! I use mine only for movies and shows, never for news channels or other sources with fixed graphics.
