Or, you can get a DAC, like the Holo Audio May, that uses R2R ladder circuits for PCM and discrete DSD circuits for DSD giving you the best of both worlds. Of course I think using HQPlayer is the way to get the most out of R2R NOS and DSD NOS DACs…
I also upgraded my T+ to latest firm and I really liked the change. I don’t think the gaia DDC upgrades the sound quality of a Terminator + with any well made streamer (even a Rpi) when using a well made DAC (and the T+ is state of the art). I blind tested a Rpi + Venus II against a Innuos Zenith + Gaia DDC + Terminator plus on my system and the differences were not obvious. In fact it was imposible to be sure which one was playing.
I’m almost sure I find diferences in the new firmware… but I can’t A/B test it. Would need 2 DACs
