Denafrips T2+ 12th and GAIA DDC and Roon settings

Hello every one …
Added a GAIA DCC to my T2 12th Aniv.
All is working and clocks alined… just unsure on the Roon settings.
Roon Core is on Mac Mini USB into GAIA

I have setup Roon on GAIA as so :

I noticed that DSD is limited to DSD 256 and not DSD512 ?
if someone can take a peek and tell me all looks good… would be appreciated !

Best

That’s due to having set DSD playback strategy to DoP.

If you stream it may be worth enabling MQA core decoder. Even Qobuz carries some MQA only content.

Thank you, gentlemen… I did notice that there were some MQA Files on Qobuz… which kind of surprised me

I enabled MQA on my Roon device setup… But I noticed that the files were down sampled to 96khz from 192 and that was via USB

The MQA files were probably given a first unfold in the Roon core, from 48 to 96 kHz. The second step, from 96 to 192, should take place in the dac, although that dac will have to be MQA capable to do that.
Roon’s signal path will show you what exactly happens to the file.

Denafrips does not support MQA.

that is correct … however I have the Ethernet going to my Hegel and have the option of bypassing the internal DAC and a digital out to the Denafrips … but … meh … Im happy with 16/44 Tidal and Qobuz …

So adding a DCC Gaia from Denafrips… clock enabled and cabled… I2S cable between the DAC and GAIA has certainly changed the whole image

More of a tighter image … lost a bit of warmth in mid range … less bloating I guess … but will give it a month to break in …

All in all the Denafrips T2 12th anniversary offer a level of instrumental layers to tracks … quite a revelation … the Hegel was also very good but the GAIA and T2 DAC is a step above …

thanks for the replies …Matt
