Description of Issue

Different listings for London Grammer singles on Roon Remote instances

On Windows-based Roon Remote

“Lord It’s Feeling (Orchestral version - Live at Abbey Road)” is included

This single is not listed on the same listing when viewed on a Roon Remote instance running on iOS

Nor the two more recent additions

The only way I can see those items on the iOS Roon Remote is by selecting ‘Discography’ but then restrict the view to items in my local library.

So why the difference in the ‘Overview’ view between Roon Remote running on Windows to Roon Remote running on iOS.

All Roon Remote versions are B1260, its Windows 10 and iOS 16.5
However, this issue has been not just with the latest version, but for several releases.

Hey @simon_pepper,

After reviewing your account information, I see that you’re running early access, as well as an outdated mobile-exe build that is no longer active. Having different builds across devices may very well be the culprit behind what you’re seeing.

Outside of that, I would review your iOS Roon settings and see if ‘Show hidden tracks and albums’ option is enabled. If not, turn it on and let me know if that clears things up for you.

Thanks!

Hi Ben,

“Show Hidden Files and Albums” is not enabled on any Roon Remote instance, the 3 on iOS and one on Win10 (I do have a legacy Win7 machine, which is running a Roon 1.8 version, but this machine is used infrequently now, for Roon) however the rest are all on the same early-access release. However this issue predates any of the current early release builds, and has been an issue for some time.

Enabling “Show Hidden” does not solve the issue with the missing Singles entries, but just adds those I have duplicated in my Tidal library.

Moreover the problems is worse on the Roon Remote on my iPhone with even fewer Singles being showed that the Roon Remote on iPad versions.

I think the problem lies with your ‘Show more’ / ‘Show less’ filtering.

I can also reproduce this error with another artist for whom I have an extensive listing of Albums and Singles.
New singles/EPs are not listed.

Hey @simon_pepper,

Thanks for the bump on this thread! A few follow questions for you:

  1. If you perform a fresh re-install of the Remote app on the affected devices, does the issue still occur?

  2. I’d be curious to see how things perform on a fresh database. Please create a fresh backup before anything else. Steps to follow below:

  • Stop RoonServer from running in ROCK’s WebUI
  • Navigate to your ROCK’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”
  • Restart the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new Roon database folder
  • On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Core” and connect to the new database

With that, do you by chance have “Prefer edited Versions” enabled?

Hi Ben,
Many thanks for getting back to this problem.

Yes

I had to rebuild after my Backups became corrupt, so not sure this will solve the issue either, as it only present on iOS based Roon Remotes, mainly an iPad Pro, the library presently perfectly on a Windows based version, i.e. the database is not the issue, but it is the handling within the Roon Remote version for ‘Singles & EPs in my Library’.

This will take some time, so will kick it off next week, as I want to listen to my system over the weekend.

No, happy with the original versions of everything. Have the ‘E’ flag display icon enabled.

Hi @simon_pepper,

As a good next step, we’d also like to collect a copy of your database.

  1. Make a fresh backup of your current database
  2. Navigate to your backup folder
  3. Zip up your RoonBackups folder (right-click it and select “Compress…”):
  4. Submit the .zip file to us through our Database portal

Let me know when you’ve completed the above steps. Thank you!

Hi Ben,
Files are uploaded

Many thanks

Thank you @simon_pepper! Our team will take a closer look and see about reproducing this in-house.

I’ll be in touch regarding next steps as soon as possible. :+1:

Hey @simon_pepper,

Our QA team is still having issues reproducing this on their end. If possible, could you please send over both versions of Lord it's a feeling to our media upload here?

Thanks!

Done - both files uploaded

Many thanks,
Simon.

Hi @simon_pepper,

Apologies for the delay here - our team has not made much progress on your issue, nor are we able to reproduce it.

As a next step, please test out clearing your core Cache, and see if that may help.

  • Exit out of Roon
  • Stop RoonServer via the Web UI
  • Find and open your Roon database
  • Navigate to RoonServer/Cache
  • Move the contents of the /Cache folder elsewhere, like your desktop
  • Try restarting Roon and verify if the issue still occurs

Let me know!

Hi @benjamin Not sure what this is going to show, as this isn’t a server-side issue, as the content is correctly displayed on a Windows 10 based remote, but it is not on iPadOS based remotes.

Anyway, have let Roonserver build its cache, and the issue on the iPadOS remote is still there.
BTW The issue is worse on iOS based remote, i.e. my iPhone 12 Mini, there is even less Singles & EPs displayed for the artist.

I think the bug is in the ‘Show More’/‘Show Less’ logic that is not taking in all items present within the library.

Thanks,
Simon.

Apologies for the delay here @simon_pepper, are you still experiencing this issue on the latest Roon build?

You bring up an interesting point here, and would be most beneficial if you could record the issue on the ios device, using a different phone’s camera. Be sure to capture the expansion of “Show More” to see if the objects are missing due to the different resolution size of the mobile device.

Thanks!

I am, on a number of artists

Have a screen recording showing you the issue.
Can’t upload here, so how do I get it to you?

Hey @simon_pepper,

My apologies, you can upload the video here.

Thanks!

Ok done.

On the screen recording you can clearly see when I browse artist London Grammar and look at the Singles/EPs in my library. There is only version of “Lord it’s a feeling”.

When I then select London Grammar’s Discography and then restrict to items in my library, and scroll down to “Singles/EPs” you can a completely different set of items including 2 versions of “Lord it’s a feeling” - btw these versions are not associated or grouped with each other, as Versions, they are entirely separate.

However you can see the issue I have “Show more” on iOS.
Remember this issue is not present when viewing Roon Remote running on Windows (Win10 64-bit)
