Description of Issue

Stuttering music on playback after a few seconds

Timestamp 03-09-2023 21:26 UTC+1

It happens on Albums, Qobuz and Tidal (in Roon)

Playback on both Tidal and Qobuz app is flawless

@Olaf, this is symptomatic of a network issue. As the Zen Mini is connected via Ethernet, this may be related to your WiFi network. It is important to understand what you are using for WiFi. Can you try to find what is the brand and model of your router?

@Robert_F thank, I’ll contact my internet provider tomorrow and get back to you as my router is not at my house

Hi @Robert_F , the router is a Mikrotik.

Thanks

Thank you @Olaf, what is the model of the MikroTik router? I want to understand how it’s WiFi is configured.

@Robert_F thanks but I did some more testing and currently testing via iphone 12 mini. Both playback and connection to ARC seem to work fine via this device. So I assume it has more to do with my Motorola RAZR than with the router.

Would that make sense?

@Olaf, glad ARC is working on the iPhone. I don’t have an Android phone, but would expect the behavior to be the same between iOS and Android. Let’s see if other users have any additional insights.

Hi @Robert_F and @AMT first of all thank you both for your assistance, much appreciated.

As for my problem it was two fold

  1. stuttering over normal Roon playback via Motorola RAZR 5G (not using ARC)
  2. Not able to connect to ARC on the Motorola RAZR 5G

After the question of @Robert_F about my router I tested a bit more on my iPhone 12 mini. Here playback and connecting to ARC functioned flawless. So I do not think it was a router issue.

Now for the solution @AMT mentioned this seems to work for the playback over normal Roon for the Motorola RAZR.

However connecting to ARC does not work on the Motorola. See error:

{

“ipv4_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},

“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“185.aaa.bbb.ccc”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“null”,“router_external_ip”:“192.168.53.253”},

“status”: “status”: MultipleNatFound

,

“natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”},

“upnp_autoconfig”: {“server_ip”:“192.168.1.1”,“found_upnp”:true}

}

So in short:

  • iphone 12 mini: Roon playback and connecting to ARC is flawless
  • Motorola RAZR 5G: Roon playaback works now, connecting to ARC gives error

ps.
Sorrry for being so detailed but the info we provide might help others.

@Olaf, the error message shows two routers in your home network, on with an address of 192.168.53.2 and one with an address of 192.168.1.1. Do you have two routers in your network?

Roon also requires all of its connected devices to be on the same subnet, which means that the first three sets of numbers in the IP address must be identical (either 192.168.53.aaa or 192.168.1.bbb).

Can you explain your home network in a bit more detail?

@robert_F my network is a bit complex as internet is provided (sent) over radiowaves here. So all I got is an antenna outside and kind of “converter” in my house.

Now as for the ARC problem, as mentioned it works perfectly fine on my iPhone (which is on the same network and IP range as my ZenMini) but on the Motorola (also on the same network, IP range as the ZenMini) ARC does not work.

In short, both iPhone and Motorola config is exactly the same. Iphone works, Motorola not.

Hence my thoughts it is more a Motorola issue instead of my network.

Cheers

@AMT

Correct on my iPhone both Roon and Roon ARC work flawless.

On my Motorola Roon works (thanks to your suggestions) but can not get Roon ARC to work.

Yes iPhone and Motorola RAZR are on the same network and WiFi

Hi @AMT both downloaded from the official app stores in iOS and Android on the same day.

The one my Motorola doesn’t even open. It just shows the ARC logo in the middle and freezes there.

If deleted and reloaded it a few times, no results

And yes both are 1.0.42
