DLNA issue on Pi Zero 2w

Hi

I built a ropieee on the above model pi with a JustBoom Digi Zero pHAT for use with Plexamp and DLNA. Initially I was using build 2025.10.2, Plexamp ran fine and DLNA would work for a while then would disappear off the network, from both the Wiim Ultra I was casting from and BubbleUPNP on Android. A reboot would fix the issue immediately but after a while DLNA would disappear again. Plexamp and the ropieee web page would carry on working fine.

I was reading the thread about the issues with Plexamp, so tried disabling it to no avail so I’ve just tried a fresh build, using 2026.01, only enabling DLNA and I’m having the same issue.

I’ve generated a log, could you have a look please?

Is there any way to view the logs myself?

Thanks
Karl

Your logs look fine from an UPnP (DLNA) perspective, but I see an hourly report about your DNS config. Which makes me think if this is a M-DNS issue, which handles discovery for your unit.

Can you test with a cable?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I’ll have to try and find an OTG cable, I’ll have a look as I’ve got one somewhere. I’ve got a Digi hat coming today for a Pi 4B, I’ll try that (wired) and feed back how I fare.

I found a compatible LAN cable, and the Pi Zero 2w has been stable via that.

I also built the 4B and that’s stable also.

I’ll try WiFi on the 4B to see if that’s the same (just out of curiosity) but will used wired from here on in.

Do you think it the end device or my network config that’s the root cause?

Thanks for the help.

That’s difficult to answer… WiFi problems can exist for so many reasons.
How’s it going on the Pi 4 with WiFi?

Regards Harry

It’s been stable, it’s connected at 5Ghz vs the 2.4Ghz of the Pi Zero but can’t see that making a difference to M-DNS.
