Do I Need to Update for rooDial?

My rooDial recently stopped connecting. My Raspberry Pi is blinking slow Green.

I never updated any software since original install several years ago because I did not mind the MS Dial needing a few seconds to “wake up” (there was a fix for that).

But now, no matter what I do, I can’t get the Dial to connect. Tried batteries, multiple power resets of Roon server, remote iPad, and RPI.

I know Roon updates frequently, but I have always been OK. Did Roon break the Dial until I update. I am not good at software.

Rob (the rooDial is the best mod ever)

Edit - I now see there are OTA updates, but that probably was added during a previous update which I never performed?

Why don’t you start by saying which version you are on

I’m running Roodial v1.5.7 and having the same problems a the last few months.

It would be helpful to know why the connection issues started happening &, more importantly, how to fix them…

I checked roon/Settings on my roon remote iPad and saw the rooDial was there, but no longer Enabled. Don’t know how that happened, but I enabled it, selected my speaker, and now all is well.

How do I find which version I am running? Sorry, but I never paid it much attention.

You can see the version in Roon under Settings > Extensions.

Good news if that worked for you, in my case Roodial has never been truly reliable. Mine shows as active in Roon extensions but sometimes the dial works & other times it just doesn’t work.

I’ve connected via ethernet, rebooted, reloaded the image, tried an external aerial (even though I’m only a metre from the Pi), replaced dial batteries many times and all other suggestions but nothing seems to produce any consistently good operation.
