Hello! I have what I think is a fairly large collection of music on my server. It’s approximately 40,000 tracks of music / 1.9 TB / total playback time of about 110 days. Nearly a third of a year of no-repeat music. This represents close to 50 years of active music curation across just about all genres. Organically, I’m identifying the following patterns - this is just an initial take, and will require refinement, of course! I would love input! Type I: People who collect only the music they like, and discover new items through browsing (radio, song samples, reading, streaming services, etc.) They may discover deep tracks in their collections through random play and “Discover” features as well. I appreciate that people have large libraries, but I think that Roon’s core audience is Types I and II; not necessarily Type III; definitely not Type IV. I think that Roon pre-supposes that people in those latter groups use other tools to manage their pending/non-listening collection, and I don’t think that is entirely unreasonable. Roon cannot be all things to all people.
