Does Roon Colludes with Music Streaming Companies?

Hello All-

Recently I face frequent and repeated issue in music playback to my Cambridge Audio CXN100 when using Roon. Both devices are hard wired connected by CAT8 ethernet cable and there was no issue in the past.

However, recently my subscription to Qobuz ended and I decided not to renew for now since I have too many Hi-Res albums purchased that I can enjoy for a couple of month. Then come the issue of very frequent disconnections between Roon and CXN100 (happens every other minutes) that I can’t enjoy listening to music anymore.

This occurrence leads me to think of potential collusion between Roon and the Music Streaming companies because the issue happen just after my subscription to Qobuz just ended.

Does this strange music dropping issue happen to any of you after you stop subscription to any Music Streaming Company? Please let me know.

Of course not.

No, this is highly unlikely to be the cause of your issues; unless you are still trying to play music (versions) that you no longer have the rights to?

What steps have you taken to troubleshoot your set up?

Does this happen with the majority of your local files? Any exceptions?

No

Roon works well with my local library.

Historically I had more issues being logged into Qobuz :man_shrugging:

Try swapping the Cat8 cable with a standard Cat6 one. Cat8 is unnecesdary, and poor quality or damage (a kink) can severely impact performance.

However, Roon Support will be able to see this from the logs.

Have you tried “Clean up Library” in Roon settings/library to make sure you don’t have references to files that no longer exist?

Another clean up is under settings/setup and “Clear Image Cache”.

And finally make sure that under settings/services you are not still letting Roon try to logon to your now expired Qobuz account. You should be able to “logout” and “disable” Qobuz.
