I am using ROON to play DSD files thru HQPlayer and Sonore microRendu to my Wyred4Sound DAC-2 DSDse. ROON is converting my DSDs to PCM 352.8k for output to HQPlayer. With ROON direct to the microRendu or playing back with HQPlayer my DAC reports receiving a DSD input. What do I need to change in setup to playback in DSD with ROON/HQPlayer?

Curious, how do you know Roon is converting to your DSD to PCM? Can you tell by clicking on the little blue circle during playback?
When I set up HQP to play with Roon I didnt have to change any settings at all.
Thanks for your suggestions. The first did not solve my problem. I was unable to find the second topic even with search.
Very strange. Perhaps try to disable then re-enable HQPlayer in settings?
In settings I have deleted HQPlayer and then added it back, ROON is still converting DSD file to PCM.
I am totally stumped. I thought that if Roon is outputting to HQP that it should automatically just send the data as is. I hope someone from the Roon team can help.
Has something to do with how ROON and HQPlayer interface. With no other changes in ROON it will output DSD to microRendu when I bypass HQPlayer.
Is there a better category to to post my problem under to get it to the attention or the ROON team?
In HQP, what is selected in the rightmost menu?
For HQP to upsample/resample to DSD, you’ll need to select SDM (as opposed to PCM). To pass-through DSD straightforward, select DirectSDM in DSDIFF/DSF settings.

When I output PCM or DSD directly from ROON to my DAC there are no conversions. I just want it to work like that when I add HQP in the loop
You should avoid the above. You can disable it in Roon set-up menu.
In HQPlayer, in order to pass-through PCM straightforward, set None/None for filter/dither (the two far left drop down lists on the desktop). However, I suggest you to still use some dither (TPDF or Gauss) for RedBook signal. You can match these settings in your Settings menu too.
As Rene wrote, to pass-through DSD straightforward, select DirectSDM in DSDIFF/DSF settings.

How do I do that?
In Roon settings under Audio, do you have any other devices enabled other than HQP?
If you have selected HQP in Roon’s Audio setting, ROON will not be converting DSD to PCM before sending to HQP.
Probably you can confirm it looking at your audio chain in Roon at playback.
