DSP for Focal Clear Headphones

I know that, unlike Audeze, Focal has not officially published presets for DSP. But has anyone done some manual setup for the Focal Clear headphones and willing to share your knowledge?

Oratory1990 on Reddit has an extensive set of EQ presets. Here’s the one for the Focal Clear.

Hey Alex, thank you so much for the info. I set the EQ preset in the Roon app today. The improvement in SQ was immediate and noticeable. I had almost given up on the Clears but post-EQ they are sounding so much better and a lot less fatiguing. Appreciate your help!

Now I need to find the settings for my Hifiman Arayas

Full list is here: List of presets.

For headphones that are not on the list, you could try AutoEq as well.

I use this site, there are 2500 headphones listed. Below is for the Focal Clear.

My experience with my Beyerdynamic T1.2 using the recommended parametric equalizer setting has been extremely positive. I loved my headphones before the EQ; as I was not trying to fix a problem. For me with EQ, it sounds like listening to properly setup speakers.

This is also my go-to site for headphone convolution filters and for equing USB Audio Player Pro on Android. Highly recommended :+1:

hi everyone.i am new to DSP. To make the suggested DSP from the Oratory1990 on Reddit suggestions, do I just need to add the Filter Settings in the table in the “Parametric EQ” section of DSP in Roon?

Yes. And you need to drag the slider to the right of the plot down to the pregain value mentioned by Oratory.

thanks for that. giving it a try now. What is BW/S? Do i need to enter this infomation anywhere in roon?

That’s a different way to express Q. Some EQs use Q, some use bandwidth. Roon uses Q, so just ignore the bw-values.

Thanks DeLub! DSP settings from Oratory for the Focal Clear attempt life changing. Rolls off the fatiguing highs prior to adjustment. I also tried the AutoEQ quoted above and prefer the Oratory1990 settings, but have them both loaded.

Great information Roon community!

Are there optimized DSP settings for the Focal Clear MG Pro?
