Duplicated Chromecast Groups [Ticket In]

Thanks for the heads-up!

In the last months duplicate groups appeared and disappeared again on their own, so I didn‘t follow the issue too closely anymore. I can‘t remember seeing one since the last update, but OTOH I didn‘t have a lot of time for roon lately.

I will have a closer look in the coming days and give feedback again!

Best regards

@connor Unfortunately with the schedule reboot disabled, I have a duplication of the Chromecast groups again.

Will reenable the automated reboot on the WAP, again.

Let me know, when you have another fix for this issue implemented.

Thanks,
Simon.

Same here, sorry to say.

For 3 hours I have a duplicate group again without any special interaction in Roon or on the network side of things …

Thanks

Hey @SloMo, @simon_pepper,

Thank you again for the update and sorry this one is still bugging the system for you. We’ll reinvestigate and try to ship any potential fix sooner than the first round, but I don’t have a specific timeline for the ticket yet.

All right :grinning: Thanx a lot!

Ok, no problem - as soon as you have something to be tested, I can disable the daily reboot on my WAP.

With several months passing, the problem seems to have disappeared. Haven‘t seen a duplicate group for weeks, no matter what.

Three possible explanations, single or combined:

  1. Roon fixed it :grinning:

  2. I exchanged a CCA-connected device with a WiiM Amp and consequently there were changes to the groups as well

  3. During these changes I figured that one device (JBL Link Music) had constantly troubles maintaining a stable group connection. A 10 minute power-off fixed that. This might be the most probable cause for the problem, but I have nothing to back that theory up :grinning:

Just sayin‘

Sadly doesn’t seem to be the case.

I stopped my WiFi AP from rebooting everyday, and with 2-days I have a duplicate Zone of my Chromecast devices used upstairs in the “Bed and Bathrooms”

So which re-enable the daily reboot again.

@connor Is there any timeline on the resolution of this issue?

Sorry to hear.

I‘ll keep an eye on the issue and report back if anything changes.

Best regards

What’s going on with this?

@connor I am still experiencing this issue, is there any update?

Hi, @connor Can I ask where is the progress on this ticket?
It was raised in October ‘22, so 2 years ago, and I still have the issue, see this screenshot of my zones this morning.

Hi, I just started using Roon, today is my first day as a pais subscriber. I have the same problem with chromecast speaker groups:

@support Any progress on this ticket?

@support @vova Any update here? It’s been a few years since the issue was identified & a ticket created in your backlog.
My understanding is that the issue is still present.

Hi,
Firstly I have moved, and upgrade my AP to a latest Unifi model with Triband Wi-Fi 7 support.
And immediately issues with Chromecast device support.

Devices not listed, but still working as part of a Chromecast Group.
Chrome cast Groups disappearing

So there is something very a miss with Chromecast discovery, as reported over 3 years ago.
This ticket, identifying the problem is over 2 years old.

Is that not long enough? @mike @vova

Hi @simon_pepper ,

We are looking over older threads and noticed this one is still active. Can you please confirm if you are still seeing the issue at the present time? Thanks!

Well the Chromecast groups are not duplicated as often now, but Roon ‘loses’ Chromecast based endpoints.

I have to go to Google Home and click on the device to get it back listed in the Zone list, even though it is receiving the stream.

Basically I believe there is still a bug in Chromecast based device & group discovery. A nasty not immediately obvious & visible bug, so difficult to find, reproduce, fix snd test but there is something not right there.
