Dutch & Dutch 8c: pre-Roon Ready thread

To solve the problem , try to :

Let the roon core run.
Turn off both speakers (hardware switch behind ) pull out the power cord .
Disconnect ethernet cables .
wait for 30 minutes , should be more than enough.

Then try again .
Do you find D&D8C in roon ? As not certified roon device .

Are you an ROON beta tester ?

Hi J.D.

As I wrote in the answer to myself above I managed to get it to work. I guess that, in an unsystematic way, I basically did what you suggests. The D&D show up as Roon ready.

And no, I am not a beta tester (not officially, but since I got the 1.4.38 version I guess I am…).

Did your speakers come with it installed?

No, it was an update.

Thanks. Sorry for the questions but I’ve had my speakers since August and they are still on 1.3.12 that came with them with autoupdate enabled. I guess I’ll wait to see what happens. What firmware level was installed before the update?

I got access to the beta updates after emailing D&D to ask why I couldn’t update to them through the lanspeaker site. It might be a limited access situation since it’s beta…?

I’m also having the same problem with only the right speaker playing in Beta version 1.4.38, which I reported to D&D. Wasn’t having the problem in previous versions.

Hi,

I’m waiting for the delivery of my D&D 8C speakers and have read that an ethernet cable is included in each speaker package.
In order to prepare the arrival of the speakers, I would like to know the length and the color of this cable. Can you help me please? Thank you.

Look at my post further up

Hello,
Congrats !

The color is black. I am not sure about the length, never used them, but if i am not mistaken they should be around 7-10 meters. I bought mine 1.5 years ago. There might be changes.

Very stylish! Everything comes together quite nicely. Something even an interior decorator could love!

Hello Roon and D&D 8C owners. I have Roon an I’m interested in the 8C. Couple quick questions:

  1. Has anyone who is testing the 8C’s Roon Beta Firmware been successful in achieving an reliable network connection and playback to both speakers, including simultaneous volume control through Roon ?

  2. I read that the speakers are adjusted through a web interface…is it lanspeaker.com ? If someone can spare a few minutes, would greatly appreciate it if you could post screen shots of this interface, including screens dealing with parametric EQ and room correction features.

Thank you !

I don’t have the beta firmware (even though I have asked for it) so can’t help you there.

But the following are screens from lanspeaker.com including the setup of a parametric filter.

Re: question (1)

I have been using my pair with Roon for a few months. The functionality works very well, including simultaneous volume control directly via the Roon app.

I particularly like the ability to switch between my AES source and Roon simply by pressing play - Roon overrides until playback is stopped.

Network reliability is good but not 100% yet.

Anthony,

Thank you very much ! This is good to know. Just curious for the AES feed, what is your source ? Until Roon readiness is confirmed I’d like another way to feed the speaker as a go to. I have Bluesound Node 2i, but that’s toslink. I believe there is a converter available, but limited to 24/96…

How did you get the beta firmware Anthony?

I’m using AES via a LUMIN U1 Mini. It works beautifully.

Ah, yes that’s a nice looking piece…

Thanks again Craig !

Hello J.D
Did you find an interesting difference with the IFI PURIFIER sockets?
Thanks

Craig,

Thanks again for the screen shots.

I had a follow up question for you or anyone who knows about this:

For the lanspeaker.com interface, is this just working over your local LAN or does it require external internet connection ? Putting aside firmware updates, which would obviously require external internet, I’m just interested in the parametric and other speaker adjustments available in the app. I’m hoping the app is just connecting you directly to the speakers IP address and does not require external internet.

I ask because:

  1. It’s good to know that you can adjust the speakers without internet.

  2. If D&D went bust, then at least without the need for an external hosted website the speakers would still be viable…sans any future firmware updates of course.

Thanks again…
