Hey Everyone,
Since the last Roon ARC release, which included an upgraded CarPlay experience, some of you have reported heavy battery drain while using ARC in the car. Thank you for flagging it. Your reports helped us track down the cause.
We found that after CarPlay finished loading, a background request on the Home screen stayed open instead of closing, which kept the iPhone’s processor working hard throughout playback. This release fixes that. In our testing, CPU usage during CarPlay playback returned to the low levels seen in the previous CarPlay version.
Because we tested in a development environment, we need your help to confirm the fix on real iPhones in real cars. If you use CarPlay, please monitor battery drain and how warm your phone gets, especially on longer drives, and let us know how it compares to before. This build also includes extra diagnostics to help us investigate if the problem isn’t fully resolved.
Thank you for being part of our testing community!
