Emm Labs NS1+ DAC2X

Hi Guenter,

THx for the update info.

I’ll reconnect The NS1 when the DAC2X will be back.

hi patrick,
the power supply of the da2 wiil be completely replaced.
fortunately it is still a warranty case :relaxed:
with the upgrade almost the whole interior is new.
any news of your dac?
cu günter

Hi Guenter,

The DAC is currently in test. A specific filter (given by EMM Labs) must be inserted between the RS232 connector and the RS232 entry of the DAC.

And no more “non wanted noises”.

Best
Patrick.

hello again,
is that the part that is delivered with the ns1?
it is stated in the manual to use this in case you use a dac2x…
or did you get another thing?
cu günter

Guenter,

This part is now delivered with the DAC2X in Version 2, in case of connexion with a NS1, and usage of optilink port…
The RS232 transports “display Information” coming from the NS1 to the screen of the connected DAC. The DAC2X has not any display screen (like DA2/DV2). This part is designed to solve (filter) these non used information that can disturb (noises) the Fiber transport and the AES/EBU port as well.

But it is not mentioned in any manual.

Patrick.

hi patrick,
this part was in the package of the ns1.
but you are right it is not mentioned in the ns1 manual. it is only mentioned on this small plastic bag.
btw an update for the ns1 is available. 3.9.12

Bonsoir Guenter,

Will get back My DAC tomorrow. with the specific “Filter”.

Patrick.

hi patrick,
was this part not contained in your ns1 packet?
cu günter

Guenter,

Correct, this part was not into the NS1 Package (forgotten).

Best.
Patrick.

hi patrick,
i spoke to my friend with the dac2x and he has installed this plug.
this should be mentioned in the manual.
hopefully your dealer will report this to emm labs…
have fun with your gear.

Hi Guenter,

Got The DAC back today. Sound now is good without artefacts. So I can Enjoy my Lifatec optic wire.

Patrick

hi, would you say, that the lifatec is better than original emm optilink?
(I have ns1 + da2)

Hi Jiri,

Yes I confirm,

  • The lifatec (first designed for medical applications) is build upon 470 glass fiber optic strands in the Silflex glass cables.(to manipulate cautiously). This company designed specifically optic cables for audio applications with good critics in the press.

  • This cable has been advised by my importer.

Hi Guenter,

Can You please ask your DAC2X 's friend :

With the current release of Roon( 1.8) & NS1 (3.9.12), did he tried in native DSD method (vs DOP) through the EMM Optilink fibre?

Best
Patrick.

hi patrick,

native dsd is not possible with the dac2x.

Hi SoundFisher,

I’ a NS1 user with a DV2.

I’m on firmware 3.9.0. On the MControl app it says firmware update server unavailable. Any clue how do I go about it?

Sincerly,

S.

Hi Satyam_Bachani,

Welcome to the “EMM Labs Users”

I did not used MConnect application (2.4.35) on my iPad since last update of My NS1 (3.9.0). I just tried to check the NS1’s firmware version, and An error message says :

“Remark
Delay in response from device”

and no possibility to go further.

Let’s call for a friend : Günter can you try to to audit your NS1 firmware from MConnect application?and what is the result ? Thanks in advance.

best
Patrick.
