When should I turn on or off the “enable MQA core decoder” in the advance setting?

If you are doing any DSP in Roon then let Roon do the first unfold (enabled) and pass this to the Nyquist for the final render.

If you want bit perfect with no volume control, DSP or convolution in Roon disable core decoder and pass a bit perfect signal to the DAC.

I do hear a better sound quality when the mqa core decoder is disabled
No dsp is used.
