Description of Issue

Tried automatically configuring Roon ARC which failed with the standard error message about port forwarding.
I think it is obviously because I have not one, but 2 routers between the Roon core and the Internet.

It its unclear to me how or where I have to manually setup port forwarding… is it on the “local” Ubiquiti Dream Machine router running my home network, or is it on the external Ziggo Modem/ Router that connects to the internet, or is it on both (& if so how ?, do I have to open the same port on both ?))?

The instructions only seem to cater for the single router case, but there must be plenty of people that have similar configuration as I have (internet modem provide by ISP only used for internet gateway, with home network configured on its own/ separate router).

thank you !
Mike

You can either:

  • Set the Ziggo router to bridge mode (or whatever it is called on this device) which should turn off routing functionality and DHCP, so that it only acts as a modem that takes care of transferring the data to the internet connection.
  • Set up port forwarding on both. On the Ziggo, forward the Roon port from the external IP to the local IP of the Dream Machine. On the Dream Machine, forward the same port from the IP of the Dream machine to the IP of the Core.
