Describe the issue

Hi, just purchased my first Nucleus and I have added an internal SSD to transfer my library to it from my Mac Studio.

My first action is to format the SSD but I cannot progress as the I am experiencing a recurring error on the Roon app stating ‘Uh oh, something’s not right - make sure your Roon Server is turned on and that you’re connected to the same network’.

The server app does settle for a few seconds before a message comes up stating ‘searching for Roon Core’ and then reporting the error message again.

I have turned off and re-started my router and the Roon Core but the issue is ongoing.

Please advise how I should progress

Describe your network setup

Hi @David_Page,

Diagnostics indicate that the MacServer remains active and online - do you have additional devices running Roon that you can use to attempt to connect to that server, like a phone?

The important step is to perform a Backup, if possible. From there, you can proceed to shut down RoonServer on the Mac from the toolbar and power on the Nucleus to proceed with the Formatting step from the web administration.

Hi Conor,
I have two iPads and an iPhone that run the Roon App. All three seem to exactly mirror the profile observed on the Mac Studio with brief periods when the app is running followed by the error message and then a time-out until the next period of brief connection.

Hey @David_Page,

Thanks for the update! Do you have the mac hardwired via ethernet directly to your router when this issue occurs?

If you open Roon using the same Mac running Roon Server, do you experience the same issue? Are you able to create a fresh backup using this setup?

We’d like to take a closer look at a set of Roon Server logs from the issue Mac, could you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

Thank you!

Hi Benjamin,

My Mac has been running wireless throughout.

I have sent the Roon Server logs to the Roon File Uploader under the file name ‘David_Page’

Thanks

Hi @David_Page,

I’d recommend setting up a hardwired network connection while we continue to troubleshoot.

Thanks for sending those over! We’re seeing repeated issues around Roon attempting to extract tags from the following content:

Various Artists - Bach 333

Roon Server seems to crash repeatedly when attempting to analyze these files. In addition to that, it looks like Roon is reading your library size as follows:

Info: [library] Queueing initial load of 773542 tracks + 58 auxfiles

Is your library ~773k tracks?

My library is 393990 tracks

  • You do not need the Roon app to access the Web Administration Interface of the Nucleus in order to format the internal music storage SSD in your Nucleus. Check out the “Other ways of accessing the Web Interface” section in this article.
  • The screenshot in your first post still shows that Roon is connected to the Roon Server on your Mac Studio. Have you been able to click the Disconnect button in that screen to then connect to your Nucleus?

That worked. I have formatted the SSD.

I was also able to disconnect the Mac Studio and have connected the nucleus. The nucleus is running as normal and not displaying the issues showing on the Mac Studio.

The next problem is to transfer my library to the nucleus.

What is the recommended way of doing this?
