Sat. 7-13-24 tried to connect. Got an error message: There was an issue loading your library. (Innuos ZENith mk3), SSD card brand new—working perfectly.
Describe your network setup
The path: fiber to house>wifi>router>tp link extender> Innuos Zenith mk3-software app accessed through Apple iPad (their app is called “Sense”) Yggdrasil dac>>LTA preamp>two of three power amplifiers—Luxman, se84 Decware, Torii mk3 Decware>Ohm speakers-model 4000, Err Decware Omni’s.
No. Have not, with a lack of understanding. I do have a backup of library from a year ago on an external drive (via usb port on Innuos).
That was initiated through Innuos “Sense” app.
Roon error page only allowed an update through Dropbox—another subscription fee, no thanks, until I get some answers first.
Does a backup overwrite a good backup with today’s corrupted one? If it is corrupted. 2. Would like a block diagram of what resides where and who (Roon or Innuos) is tapping into the data. 3. Would like to be reminded of where I find out if my Roon version is up to date and where the settings are. 4. Wonder why I’m being shut out of everything ie. Radio stations and Tidal? (can briefly do without library—but would like SOME music access). 5. Need a childlike explanation of any acronyms before anything is assumed. Very grateful to you or anyone willing to help!
We’d be happy to take a closer look into any potential database corruption, could you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
If Roon is not able to detect the corruption, it is likely that the new backup will also reflect the same issue. Roon checks for corruption often, so it’s rare for something like this to happen.
What data are you referring to specifically, can you provide more information around your thought here?
Roon Settings>About
If your database is indeed corrupt, it won’t be able to function within Roon, so the above is unfortunately not possible when the database isn’t healthy.
Benjamin—so very appreciative of your help! Just to remind you that Innuos is a “black box” type of device. It runs on Linux, but that process is hidden. There is no display. There are pages within their “Sense” app I can access on my Apple iPad. Does Roon see info in that app? How do I go about sending my logs from there? (I’m locked out of Roon’s homepage because of Roon’s error message. So, can’t go to Roon settings> about). Went to your link, but feel like an illiterate in a foreign land. Need step by step instructions. Best—Doug
Sure. First off there’s no need to go through the Roon app to access the logs. Just follow the steps below:
Locate the Roon database on your computer. Since you are using Linux you can locate it in /var/roon/RoonServer , $HOME/.RoonServer, or $ROON_DATAROOT/RoonServer
Once you’ve located the database find the folder called Logs
This folder generally contains Roon_log.txt , Roon_log.01.txt, ect. or RoonServer_log.txt, RoonServer_log.01.txt, ect. (if making use of RoonServer)
Zip up the entire Logs folder
Please do not send individual log files
Rename the zip file to include your Community username, name, or your email address
Please don’t send your logs over as logs.zip
Send us a link to the zip file
The easiest way to do this is to upload the logs to our Logs Upload Server and let the support staff know you did so.
Hello again. Guess I didn’t make it clear that I’m not working from a computer. Can only access control apps (Roon or Innuos “Sense”) on an Apple iPad. Best regards, Doug.
You must be busy. Maybe under staffed, too. I have empathy for both.
(And uninformed Innuos owners don’t help matters at all). So, here’s some updates for this challenge.
First off, I’ve been reading far and wide. Somewhat grasp the software/ hardware differences between Roon and Innuos. (a shame)
I’ve done a hard reboot on everything in sequence. No effect. Also tried my wife’s low version of Roon from her iPad. No effect. We both fiddled with respective devices to get system up and running on the Sense app. I didn’t think the UI was very friendly from the beginning since I couldn’t find a START button! She got it working by choosing “endpoint” and Roon source. Apparently I had not toggled both. Had to log in to Tidal. A small play arrow on hers yielded music.
My library was essentially gone though. Version dependent? A result of crashing from Roon complexity? I’ll test my up to date version today. Side note: I got lost in the SQ of Sense!! So good! Don’t think it was the two weeks of having a dead system.
Big Update Here: been talking to Small Green Computer with a plan to buy a dedicated server that’s Roon ready to relieve the shortcomings of the Zenith mk3.
Then I can choose the ZENith mk3 as the endpoint connected to my dac. Hope to get my labor intensive ripped library back from an external hard drive. Into which box does the library backup go??
What I need is an opinion of that overall plan and instructions for an uninstall/ reinstall of Roon if necessary.
Have you reached out to Innuous support regarding this issue yet? You can try to perform a factory reset on the unit with the below instructions, but if this still does not help, then the Innuous support team would be in the best position to assist further.
I am willing to try your suggestion. Please throw me a breadcrumb supporting the belief that Innuos is at the crux of this problem.
It was the Roon error page that shut down access. Roon error page—-Roon support. Twenty days has passed.
Four people have had something to say.
In a recent post, I asked for some response to specific questions. Please show me some reciprocal courtesy with an attempt at those questions.
In fact, I’ll narrow it down:
Will a new dedicated server with Innuos as an endpoint followed by installing the library backup solve my problems?
The Innuous is the machine that is performing the Roon database management features, it is where the database resides and it is the brains behind your Roon app. The issue here is with the Roon database on the Innuous internal drive.
Where exactly the Innuous stores the Roon database and how to properly reset it on this machine, I cannot say for sure - this is only something that Innuous support team can advise on how to properly do. Also, please note that Innuous servers do not even officially meet the specifications needed to be supported by Roon:
Innuos Servers hardware specifications do not meet recommendations provided by Roon – you can check them here – especially with regards to CPU
From their webpage here:
The issue here is not with the server, but rather the Roon database/library on that server. Your Innuous needs to be factory reset to get it to create a new database. Then once it has the fresh Roon database, you would then be able to restore to the last good Roon backup. This is all assuming that the internal drive on it is still functioning as it should and not failing.
The way to fix it is to factory reset it and have a fresh Roon database. If it had a fresh database, you would be able to get past the “issue loading your library” message, so this suggests that the SSD drive you replaced was a music-only drive, and not the operating system/Roon database drive.
