Description of Issue

Hi! Recently converted to Roon and decided to get Roon ready outdoor speakers, the P6 Air from Escape. However, Roon keeps downsampling as shown above. Any reason this is happening despite Roon recognizing the P6 Air and its spec’ed capabilities?

Welcome Simon,

My guess is that their internal DSP is downsampling.
My KEFs do something similar: They can accept a 384 kHz signal but their internal DSP downsamples it to 96 kHz.
My KEFs show in Roon device setup as max sample rate 384 kHz but show 96 kHz in the signal path.

What happens if you disable Escape Equalizer (if you can)?
Your signal path shows that is where the conversion is happening.

As the rate conversion is after RAAT this is Roon reporting what the internal mechanisms of the speaker are actually doing. You would not see this via any other route as Roon insists on transparency in its signal path. Likely the DSP engine built into the speakers only operates at 48khz. I would ask the manufacturer as to why it does it.

48kHz sampling is common in active speakers. My Dutch & Dutch 8cs do the same thing. The sound quality is still amazing.

It does not show Roon Core to be downsampling. It shows your speaker to be downsampling.

This is normal for DSP speakers.
