Moving core from QNAP NAS to external SSD

Currently my core is installed on a QNAP NAS with HDD drives. It works well, but I’m wondering if there would be any benefit in moving the core from my NAS to an external SSD portable storage attached to my NAS? What size SSD would I require and where would I find the instructions to move this? Thanks
