EverSolo DMP-A6

I went for the DMP-A6 because it packs a lot into a smallish package. I considered the Audalytic A90 and the Matrix Audio Mini-I 4.

As the price goes up, (A90->Mini-i->DMP-A6) you get more flexibility for your money, with comparable products.

I was just looking for a Dac, I’d been fishing around for that giant killing inexpensive Dac, at about 600 €. I live in France, and browsing the Audiophonics website is how I discovered the DMP-A6.

@Simon_Arnold3 I just lifted this from an Eversolo forum post, I don’t understand this post particularly, but it may speak to you.

Graphic EQ is part of the DSP functionality of the A6, which was added via a firmware update. So first make sure your firmware is up to date, then you should see on the device or via Cast a DSP icon top right area of screen. There is also the spectrum display and VU meter icons beside it. When you press the DSP button, you will see the various elements listed left to right like GEQ and PEQ. Each element has its own on/off toggle switch, but the entire DSP suite has its own master on/off switch as well. So the master switch must be ON and the particular element like GEQ must also be ON in order to activate the DSP. Note that if you don’t see the DSP icon at all, then check what your input and output sources are e.g. if digital inputs are selected, then no DSP or Spectrum Display is possible at all. The DSP is defined for any particular output type be it digital or analog, you will see the options drop down menu in say the controller app main home screen top right. When defining any DSP, it is recommended to give some gain headroom, like -5dB so that the calculations don’t drive the digital output into clipping, so the Gain on/off switch should also be ON. Hope this helps.

Is the issue with the inability to play multichannel dsf files with Roon as an endpoint ever going to be fixed. I can play multichannel dsf files with no difficulty using the eversolo app. However, when setting Roon as an endpoint, nothing but stuttering and skipping files. I have a very stable ethernet connection so I know this is not an issue. I know this issue has been mentioned before but there is still no. Is this an eversolo or a Roon issue?

Ill try that.

Hi Enrico, Currently I use my Nucleus as a streamer and my iPad/iPhone to view what I am listening too. I already have several DACs, so what purpose would this device serve in my current setup? Thank you in advance.

Excited. Getting one of these this weekend from a friend who wants to just got to a WiiM plus. Happy to grab at a bit of a discount.

Connected via XLR and worked with no issues. Leaving for SF to attend a conference in the morning. Looking forward to diving in when I get back.

Continuing the discussion from EverSolo DMP-A6:
I haven’t had any issues playing multi-channel DSF files via Roon to the DMP-A6. I don’t do it often, but I was quite pleased.

I have the A6 connected to my pre/pro via HDMI, and multi-channel works great.

Eversolo is introducing a Gen 2 for the DMP-A6. It seems a Linear Power Supply, HDMI Arc and also a DC Trigger has been added.

Roon - DMP-A6-Gen 2

Do you know if they’ve dropped the ability to send multi-channel DSD through HDMI?

Oh man. Anyone want a like new first gen dmp-6. I ended up adding a sound bar to the tv because I didn’t like the optical quality. My Michi does not have arc either.

No, they haven’t…

Is the PEQ side still all done at 48khz? It’s added the thing I wanted 12v trigger. It’s this or FiiO S15 this has the advantage of more mature software and support for LMS (gen1 so I assume it will for Gen2)

Also added is (WOL) Wake On Lan.

If just used as a transport for streaming to HDMI out to a pre/pro does it use all of the clock circuits. A6 ME Gen2 has better clocks and op-amps. Wondering if its worth the extra cost. Both are Roon Ready so that’s not an issue.

If you use the internal DAC, then you can benefit from the better clocks.

I assume internal clocks are not used unless the DAC is used?

This depends on the DAC, but most modern DACs re-clock the signal, and so are fairly immune to the details of clock quality.

Ok, I’m just trying to figure out if when using the device as a streamer only as in passthrough to my pre/pro it even uses any of the clocks on the device at all? Sorry maybe I wasn’t explaining my use case clearly enough.

For the analogue out it will use the updated internal clock. it will also use the updated internal clock for SPDIF as the sender is master clock. A better clocked signal means less for DAC to fix. HDMI will use separate clock system as it works differently to the audio only pipeline as its tied to video.
