Nucleus One ethernet recognized by M1 MacBook Air Z8 Recognized as playback device

Hi @Erick_Munoz,
Thanks for writing in to ask us about this issue. I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.

However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.

First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.

Just tried it again.

Time was 12:33 and 12:34 Pacific.

Thanks for your help, let me know next steps.

Tried my old first Gen Chord Mojo with same results. The Mojo is recognized and comes up as an audio device, but then the playback skips a few tracks until it gives the same “too many failures” message.

Wireless Roon is working perfectly. I am able to send music form the Nucleus one to two Astell and Kern portable players and control their playback fully from the same Mac.

This appears to be an issue with Roon and whatever most recent Mac update happened, as this is now two DACS that exhibit this behavior.

The error time for the Mojo test was December. 6th 10:59 to 11:00 PM.

It’s Definitely something wrong with the Eversolo Z8. Not sure if it is the unit or some new incompatibility with the new Mac OS.

The Ak portables were Abel to connect directly via usb-C and played fine, so did the Mojo after the computer was reset and I reinstalled Roon.

Any insight into possible fixes to the Z8 would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Erick_Munoz,
We have a few things for you to try. First in case these steps don’t help can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

Now for the troubleshooting

You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon Database
  • Stop RoonServer from running in Nucleus’s WebUI
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new RAATServer

Another possibility is an ongoing issue with Sequoia. Make sure you’ve toggled on Local Network access for RoonServer in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network. If it is already switched on toggle it off and the on again. Sometimes the toggle doesn’t accurately show if it is on.

SOLVED:

I restarted Roon, turned off the server and turned it back on, and left the Z8 off for a day. I do not believe there was any Mac OS update in that meantime. It could just have been that I had not Restarted Roon in a quite a long time but now everything is back up and working as intended.

Thanks for your suggestions, I did go through and “check and uncheck” all those options so I do not run into trouble down the road.
