Everything but my phone - Brand New Nucleus One

I switched from my Dell to a Nucleus.
Had lots of help from these forums on making that decision and I’m happy I did it

Not a huge difference but I feel cleaner and happier this way

Everything is up and running thanks to all the help from Wade and many others

Except one thing

My Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 will not find the Nucleus and I need this to work.

I have remotes that are wireless (Samsung 360 laptop) and Ethernet (WiiM Ultra and a desktop) all working perfectly.

Just not my phone.

Can anyone help me?

This is what I get.

Is the phone on the same wifi network?

My phone is on the Home Wi-Fi and the nucleus one is on the same network but plugged into Ethernet.

Have you verified that it is on the same network subnet, which was what suedkiez was referring to. Sometimes there are different wifi networks created that are separate from the ethernet network.

Compare the ip address of your phone to the ip address of the Nucleus, the first three number groups must match, ie. both 192.168.1.xxx. (Note the first three numbers might not match my example) If the first three number groups are different they the devices are on different subnets.

Hi @William_Finn ,

Are you by any chance making use of IPv6 in your setup or a VPN? Is there any change in behavior if you try to turn these features off if so?

Hi,
Thanks for the replies
The IP that the Nucleus has and my phone has match all the way until the last 2 digits. So I think that means I’m good.
I’ve never heard of an ipv6 so I looked into that, and I do not have one. Or a VPN.

Would be a setting on your router, to either enable or disable it. I personally keep it off on my network.

Do you think there was possibly something I missed when I was disconnecting the old Core?

Like I didn’t finish the relationship properly between the phone and the old Core so now the phone is looking for it and it’s not around?

I’m thinking about plugging the old computer in and seeing what happens

No, those relationships are generated when the server queries endpoints.

Check to make sure you are running the same version, and that we are talking about Roon Remote and NOT Arc.

I’m starting to notice a difference in something

My IP address to my Nucleus is the same as the IP that shows up for my cell phone. However, the IP that is says on what’s my IP.com says "96.27.232.46
Does this mean anything ?

And should I not be sharing this information publicly?

This is a the Samsung Galaxy

You phone’s network connection is using the same IP as the Nucleus? This would not be right and would definitely mess things up. IP addresses must be unique.

No it doesn’t, because IP.com shows the external IP address with which your router identifies on the internet.

The devices on your local LAN use addresses from a private address range, 192.168.. on your case, which is the most common range. (Your router has both an external address on the internet and a private one with which it is visible on the LAN).
These private addresses are only for the LAN, they are not visible on the internet.

Sharing the private addresses is not a problem because there are probably tens of millions of LANs using the same ones. They have no meaning over the internet.

The external address you see on IP.com is more or less unique to you, so sharing it publicly is not ideal. Though not a huge problem either, it would be best to obfuscate it to 96...* in your post.

I appreciate your input
A LOT.

What should I do next?
How do I ask Roon to help me with this?

The Nucleus uses 192.168.68.77 in your screenshot of the web admin page. The Galaxy uses 192.168.68.72. This is not the same address.

This is good, both devices are on the same subnet, 192.168.68, and one is number 77 on that subnet and the other is 72.

You already did, by opening a topic here in the Support area of the forum. And Noris from the support team already answered:

You should try that. If you don’t know how, tell us the make and model of your router and someone can look up its manual.

Noris will be back, and in the meantime it’s good that we saved him some work by clarifying a few things about your setup

Thanks for the help @Suedkiez and @Rugby!

@William_Finn on the Fold 5, are you able to review the network settings, and ensure that ‘Roon’ has proper access to your local network from the device?

From your account settings, it looks like the Fold 5 is currently running the early access version of Roon, while your other devices are on production. I would either switch the Fold 5 back to production or move the rest of your Roon devices over to early access, then test to see if the same issue occurs. :+1:

Hi,
Do you mean get out of the beta program?
I’ve just done that, and I’ll try to reinstall just the regular version
