Exclusive Mode with Gustard X26 pro

Gustard X26pro is connected to a MacBook (M1) via USB. No upsampling is used. No NOS-mode. As soon as I switch to “Exclusive mode” the unit crashes in between recordings, when for example switching from a 96khz/24bit recording to a 44.1khz/16bit recording or vice versa. I get the error message: “Failed to initialize the audio device”. I can only correct it by disconnecting USB and re-connecting. When I leave “exclusive mode” switched off there is no problem at all. Anyone encounter this problem too?

macOS 26 Tahoe?

Yep, you think that might be the cause?

I don’t know, but it’s a possible factor and should be considered. Did it work before on the previous macOS?

Going by forum posts, it seems that Tahoe works for most people, but a few seem to experience issues. (Unclear if those are really caused by Tahoe, but can’t be ruled out, either. It works for me, but I only use the Roon client).

There’s also a bug in CoreAudio (HQPlayer Desktop thread - #1988 by jussi_laako). So, who knows…

I guess it is a problem with the Gustard, not being 100% compatible to “exclusive mode” of Roon. I’ve just discovered it while experimenting with the settings.

Someone else reported an issue when using Tahoe that sounds like yours:

After another day of disappointment and crashes, I completely gave up my setup with Mac OS Tahoe. I now use a NUC i5 / 16GB / Windows 11 (ASIO setting) and my Gustard is absolutely flawless, not one single crash.

…furthermore, my Mac always has to look for the server and is not finding it, I then need to manually go into package content and start the server. With Windows 11 this is no problem. The server is found every day - no manual interference needed, it works flawlessly. For me, Mac + Roon is no longer an option, although it sounds great once it’s working.
