In Roon, in Album view I select all Albums and then export to Excel
I open in Excel and the Album Artist information is incorrect for any Album where I edited this information. Here is an example
From Roon
This post never got a response from a member of the forum or tech support. It was about to close so I dinged it with another reply hoping tech support can weigh in
The top image you are showing “The Phantom of the Opera [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack]” by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The excel clip is for the album “Highlights from the Phantom of the Opera”
But, anyway, sticking with the album “Highlights from the Phantom of the Opera”, there does seem to be a disconnect with the display and the excel export. It first exported the Album Artist as Original London Cast. I then edited it to Andew LLoyd Webber and it then exported it correctly.
I’m wondering if it has to do with the fact that Andrew Lloyd Webber in the data is really the composer not the album artist per se, and, unless you specifically edit it to the same (like I did) , it might be displaying one but using the other for the export.
Well, editing the Album Artist and then exporting it is working perfectly for me (as I have just shown twice). Perhaps, try it again. Take a different album as a test and change the Album Artist to something like TEST, and then export just that album immediately to check.
What is weird about this is I exported my entire collection, about 660 albums. Most of them I have never changed Album Artist. For the ones I have made a change, a lot of them export correctly but some don’t. I cannot figure out why
If you give me a list of some of them, I can test them and see (as long as they are on Qobuz). I wonder if the issue is similar to my guess about Composer being used as an Album Artist.
I followed up myself with some additional information in 3 more posts with the last post being June 23rd. It is now July 22nd and I have never heard back from tech support. I see this at the bottom of my postings This topic will close a month after the last reply
So in 1 day this topic will be closed with no resolution
I am beginning to think that Roon actually does not employ hardly anyone in tech support and by forcing everyone to post on a forum they are just hoping other users can solve someone’s issue. At this point I would be willing to pay for quality tech support but that option is not even available.
My issue is simple, I am nearly sure it is a bug in Roon. Even having someone verifying this and saying it will be fixed in any upcoming release would work. Sadly, that has not even happened Have other people experience frustration with support?
They are 4 people in support, I think, doing their best, and yes this leads to some frustration not just for you.
Personally, I like the open forum model very much because there is so much info to be found that otherwise would be locked up, and I learned so much just by reading. However, they need more staff.
Agreed, they need more staff. I thought that eventually anything submitted on the forum that was NOT answered by someone else would get a response from tech support. That is apparently not the case
How can I get an answer to my question if no one on the forum and no one from tech support answers?
I think in most cases the support does get around to it eventually, but sometimes a thread falls through the cracks. If I was you I’d ping (at)support in your other thread before it closes
to aks the question is to answer it… I guess that the lack of staff and if none of us here on the forum relate to your question or has a possible solution, you’re in a status quo…
At this point you are correct but I am in a status quo with what appears to me as a bug in Roon software that will not be fixed unless someone from tech support even reads my post
Your frustration is understandable. The suggestion above that the nomenclature overlap between Composer and Album Artist might be responsible is a fruitful angle.
You’ve mentioned you have an Excel export of your library containing multiple instances of this; at your convenience, please highlight several cells containing the obsolete/unedited content and the team will determine the mechanism for what you’re experiencing.
