I have created an album with my favorite songs, it has at this moment 1436 songs, the search by the name of the song inside the album is extremely slow.
Most likely because real albums with 1436 songs are rare and this wasn’t a design goal. Maybe a playlist would be the better approach? (Though I’m not sure how fast the search in such a long playlist would be, but you could search album names, track names, artist names, etc.)
I’d say it’s likely also in a constant state of trying to identify the album and tracks which it can’t due to it not being a real album. It could easily be a large classical boxset that’s unidentifiable and would have same issues. Again this is another design decision, Roon likes to match albums to ones that exist and those that don’t it will try and match again and again and again and you can’t disable it .
I agree with both of their posts. I would urge you to add the whole albums, have Roon identify them and then create a playlist rather than an unidentifiable album.
@JORGE_MERA, is the search faster when you do it in the Roon mobile app? If the search is much faster than on the desktop app, it would confirm that it is the same issue I linked.
Hi @Mr.Flibble, I don’t create a list because I share the files on a portable device (FiiO M15) that I use outside the home and when traveling so I don’t have to rely on the internet.
I use Roon on three devices:
Arcam AVR20 with KEF Q950 speakers and an SVS PB4000 subwoofer in a 7.1 setup, which I mainly use as a theater at home.
Kef LS50 Wireless II plus KC62
On the PC, an iFi Zen 3 DAC + iFi Zen CAN 3 and 2 headphones, Sennheiser HD 650 and HifiMAN Ananda Nano.
I’m just an enthusiast, not a professional, I don’t have the money for that, ha ha ha.
The Android version of Roon is fast, only the Windows desktop version is slow, both configured to the same server.
@vadim, this is clearly a problem in the Roon desktop apps (both Windows and Mac). The problem does not occur in the mobile apps (I tried on both Android and iOS).
You can reproduce the problem if you open any album with a large number of tracks. It doesn’t need to be a local album – it also occurs with streaming. The example I gave earlier is the box set album “Decca Sound: The Analogue Years 1954-1968”, which has about 300 tracks and is available on Qobuz and Tidal. If you open the album and type a search into the filter field, you will find that it works instantly in the mobile app but extremely slow in the desktop app.
Thank you for the update and clear reproduction steps.
