All of a sudden I get a message when I try to play on my iMac, “failed to initialize the Audio device”

Disregard that. I shut off the DAC, then turned it back on. It showed up again. And this time it worked!
It happened again after I played a song with different software. I think they both are set up for exclusive use, so if I use one software, like Audirvana, then try Roon, the second one won’t work.
