Favorite albums of 2019?

2019 was not the best year for me, with a few strong candidates that ultimately disappointment when compared to previous works (Wilco, Tool, Bonnie Prince Billy, The Cat Empire, Estopa, Alcest)
from band (Wilco, Tool…) and no strikingly strong albums. So I’m looking forward to checking out some of the recommendations on this thread.

In any case, these are the three that I recommend.

William Patrick Corgan - Ogilala
While the last Smashing Pumpkins album, despite bringing back Jimmy Chamberlin and James Iha, disappointed, Billy Corgan’s solo works are getting stronger. On this one, he explores very personal tunes and ventures into country music.

Leonard Cohen - Thanks for the Dance
In my opinion, not as strong as his “You want it darker”, but still strong enough to make the list. This one was finished by his son after Leonard’s death and the collaboration gets god results, with production choices not too far from the previous album, but different enough to make it interesting.

Taylor Swift - Lover
Generally speaking, I’m not into pop, but Taylor Swift keeps delivering. Cool little songs for a good time.

These had the most impact on me

Leonard Cohen -Thanks For The Dance
Long Ryders - Psychedelic Country Soul
Michael Kiwanuka - Kiwanuka
Steve Earle - Guy
The Tallest Man On Earth - I Love You. It’s A Fever Dream

Favourite releases of 2019:

Billie Marten - Feeding Seahorses by Hand
The Cure - Anniversary: 1978-2018 Live in Hyde Park London
Dido - Still on My Mind
Foo Fighters - 01050525
Guy Chambers - Go Gentle into the Light
Michael Kiwanuka - Kiwanuka
Stealing Sheep - Big Wows
Stormzy - Heavy Is The Head
Thom Yorke - Anima
