Few more questions about my setup Synology, McIntosh, RoPiee, AirPlay, Juke....

Thank You in advance for any advice while I am in the 14 day trial.

Equipment;

Core will be on a Synology NAS (DS1821+ which is a AMD Ryzen V1500B 2.2GHz, with 4 cores, and 32GB of RAM) spot observing it seems ROON is about 10% CPU, with the NAS CPU never jumping above 50%.

  • NAD M33 Seems to work well. Set up automations in Home Assistant, and can read the playlist, and plays ‘better’ than using bluOS?
  • MA8900 connected USB to the DA1 DAC using a RaspberryPi 3B and RoPieee XL. Currently have a screen on it, but probably will end up headless and use an iPAD as the screen is limited. This was / is a MoOde player (as well no using a HiFiBerry DAC+ADC Pro to unbalanced input)

AirPlay

  • AppleTV plays, no graphics just Audio
  • JUKE Streams to any of the 4 AirPlay inputs
  • Yamaha RX-A780 Album Art and Audio

Current Status

Seems to work well, to great. Audio to my ears seems real good (Files are all 24bit 96KHz lossless recordings of my Albums).

Correct me if any of these are incorrect;

  • Airplay is limited to 16bit/44.1KHz lossy
  • ROON can group devices but not AirPlay and Roon Ready devices (I assume due to network timing of RAAT and Airplay)
  • Synology Web Display does not work
  • ROON software 1.8 can not talk to a CORE 2.0 (I have a VERY old iMac that I wanted to use)

Questions:

  1. I assume using the RoPiee is better than AirPlay?
  2. Convolution is a product (similar to Dirac in the NAD M33)?
  3. There is no RAAT Bridge that I could use on the MA8900 that would present album art and lyrics, and navigate playlists?
  4. Is there harm in adding the AirPlay and the ROON inputs to a device? If I wanted to group the audio I could use the Airplay as the default, but does it impact anything?
  5. Anything I should consider ?

Thank You. A very Solid product at a premium price, so making sure it adds the right value to my home.
