Describe the issue

I have been using a FIIO KA17 USB dac/amp with Roon over the last couple of weeks (connected to my Windows 11 laptop using USB). It appeared as a audio source in Roon and after enabling it I was playing music from the amp to my headset (just as I would with my old Audioquest Dragonfly Red).

However after updating my Windows desktop app to the latest version (build 1599) the KA17 is no longer a visible audio device. I have restarted and reinstalled the Roon desktop client, restarted the laptop and also rebooted the ROCK. I can add that I had to install the new build 1599 manually after downbloading the setup file from the Roon website. The auto update function reported an error when I tried to update from within the app (after getting a notification stating that there was an update ready). Unfortunately I can't remember which version a was on and the excact error message I got when trying to update.

Was I just lucky getting the KA17 to be visible the first time becuase is is not officially a Roon ready or tested device? It seemed to be working just fine.

Describe your network setup

The laptop is connected to my network with a cable, ROCK is also wired and I am using a tp link archer ax95 router. There are no network issues.

Hello @Bjorn_Idstad

Thanks for reaching out!

From the logs, it looks like your Roon Core is discovering the RAATServer on your Windows 11 machine (192.168.0.96), but the connection attempts are being rejected — this usually means that Windows Firewall or antivirus software is blocking the RAATServer process.

Please try the following steps:

  1. Temporarily disable any antivirus or third-party firewall software.
  2. In Windows Security → Firewall & Network Protection, make sure both:
  • Roon.exe
  • RAATServer.exe
are allowed through the firewall for Private networks.
  1. Reboot your PC after making these changes.
  2. Reopen Roon and check if your desktop speakers appear again under Settings → Audio.

If it still doesn’t work, please let us know:

  • Which antivirus or security suite you’re using (if any).
  • Whether the desktop is running any VPN software.
  • Do you have any recent Windows updates installed?

Once we know that, we can guide you through the next step.

I turned off the corporate VPN connection and after doing that I got a dialog asking me to allow the RAATServer through the firewall. Now my audio devices on my computer are back.
Thank for for yor assistance.
