FiiO achieves Roon Ready status by implementing the FiiO Roon App. When using the DAP to implement Roon, this app needs to be launched, and then the Roon App can be started. This emulates the needed code to identify itself as a Roon endpoint or capable device on the RAAT utilized network protocol. So, even new FiiO devices are quickly “deemed” Roon Ready, since it’s not dependent on waiting for the hardware to be reviewed and certified.
So, long winded response to indicate that, Yes, the FiiO M27 DAP is a currently an “unofficial” Roon Ready device. But it does work as as reliably as other certified Roon Ready devices.
