No stopping Fiio at the moment. I kind of like this idea, space saving and looks to be a decent mechanical keyboard to boot. A good WFH solution. Not sure how well it will sell but I like the idea of less clutter.
I could be tempting for next year as I keep a DAC headphone amp on my desk and a wired keyboard that I have a between 4 computers. My previous cherry red keyboard is past it’s best and 2 into 1 seems like a good Idea as long as neither part is sub standard.
As the owner of 4 or 5 FIIO devices now, they are all good and clearly do the job they were designed for, so this could be a good addition
FiiO is doing some very interesting stuff.
When I saw this announced a while back, I thought it was a solution to a problem nobody had. I’m still not sure it isn’t.
I’m more likely to believe that it has a market if one of you actually buys one
@Michael_Harris - I converted from a Das Keyboard with cherry red switches to a Logitech MX Mechanical Mini with Logitech’s “tactile” switches. It’s a nice option for multiple computers since it can pair to three and it’s easy to toggle between them.
Nice to know that thanks.
I recently bought a nice multi monitor multi computer KVM that has been working a treat with one 4K DP and one HDMI as well as shared USB ports.
I had helped me significantly tidy up my desk
It’s been a while since I had an actual Logitech keyboard, I used to really like them for many years. Still it might be useful for the the devices that are not on the KVM
I think we recently made similar career changes but, with respect to our tech, we may be headed in different directions. I’ve been downsizing all of it. I’m down to one desktop computer and I even downsized my monitor. In my case, downsizing a monitor means going from 38" to 34"
I do like the Logi stuff but I don’t do any serious gaming on my desktop setup and so I don’t mind the wireless aspect. Same with my mouse.
Have you actually left it all behind now and retired at the end of November as you suggested you would. Congratulations on that
I am down to 4 Computers and a Mac Mini in my office so that is progress (plus a NUC and several Pi’s related to Roon oh and a few laptops)
I will check out that Logi keyboard, what is the model number?
I did! Back in October. Did you? I’m still trying to figure out what it all means.
I have a version of this: MX Mechanical Mini Wireless Keyboard | Logitech
I went with the “Tactile Quiet” switches. The “Linear” switches are probably closer to your Cherry Red. I’m hard to please with keyboards but I really do like this one. It’s not the route to go, though, if you want QMK/VIA type layers.
Yes I retired at the end of September and spent a wonderful month traveling through Southern Spain. That really helped me get used to the change and I have not really looked back since.
I am going for a Christmas meal with my old team on Friday night, but like John Wait I ain’t missing them at all
I will check out that keyboard thanks and see how it matches up with my needs.
Well congratulations to you, too! I hope it’s a wonderful journey for you!
Congratulations to you both
Just ordered the keyboard (to reduce clutter and to return to a mechanical keyboard). The 3.5mm also takes headsets for less musical enterprises like Teams or Zoom meetings. I will use my Sennheiser 560s for eLearning video editing and subtitling…and for listening music from a Roon endpoint including the KB3. Just the office, mind you
Anyone already has experience with this device?
