Yes I corrected myself. I cannot say for sure there’s a link between wine and roon in that case.
After the update to 11.0 and Bottles updates, it won’t run Roon anymore so I just installed it through Steam for now
I guess I will have to wait. It was running on Bottles using Soda 9.0.1 for ages with no issues
Is there a reason the Roon developers can’t just make something that can run on a browser? Even basic free software like SwingMusic and LMS do this and it just takes away all the unnecessary compatibility layers
Yes, the development tooling and the fact that it wouldn’t have good speed or perform adequately.
I created a new bottle and it gave me a DLL error in terminal when trying to run. Ended up going to Settings> DLL overrides and adding “ICU” then setting it to “Native Windows” and it now opens.*
Will either use that for now, or the Steam route.. but at least I have two ways to load Roon remote now.
*ICU explanation from Microsoft: “ICU DLL (International Components for Unicode Dynamic Link Library) is a set of open-source libraries that provide globalization support for software applications, enabling consistent handling of text, dates, and other locale-specific data across different platforms. It utilizes Unicode’s Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR) for its data, ensuring applications behave similarly regardless of the operating system.”
