Describe the issue
When using Roon (on MacOS 27), Roon freezes very often when looking up artists or similar. Search and response are slow. I tried to turn off throttle, but didn't help. After waiting a couple of minutes, Roon tries to reconnect. I also use a fixed IP address, just to avoid these malfunctions
Describe your network setup
Telenet Modem/Router F@ST3896LG-TN, Roon app connected via Ethernet. uPNP is disabled on the Telenet modem. For Roon ARC I use Tailnet to connect.
I have gone ahead and enabled diagnostics mode for your account and what this action will do is next time your Roon Server is active, a set of logs will automatically be generated and uploaded to our servers for analysis.
I wanted to reach out because I’ve been keeping an eye on our servers, waiting for the aforementioned diagnostics report.
For some reason it is not reaching our servers, even after I tried re-enabling diagnostics on your account. I also ran a quick test and I was able to submit a similar report from my setup here, so something else is going on.
So we can move forward, I was hoping for now you could use the directions found here and send them to our Logs Uploader Service and let us know after, thanks!
I’ve uploaded the log files as requested, but did not hear from you afterwards. Still having issues with the Roon Mac app not finding my Roon Server (on Nucleus One).
Sorry for the long wait, and thanks for uploading the logs. The files you sent are from the Roon app on your Mac, not from Roon Server on your Nucleus One. They still helped, but to see what the Nucleus is doing we need its own logs.
How to get the Roon Server logs from the Nucleus One:
On your Mac, open Finder and choose Go > Connect to Server.
Enter smb://192.168.0.25/Data (your Nucleus One’s address) and connect as Guest.
Open the RoonServer folder, right-click the Logs folder and choose Compress “Logs”.
Upload the zip to our Uploader and let us know here.
What the Mac logs already show: many times a day the Roon app on your Mac goes completely quiet for 5 to 20 minutes, and right after that its connection to the Nucleus has dropped and Roon reconnects. That usually means the Mac, or Roon on it, is being put to sleep in the background. If it’s a MacBook, please keep it plugged in and check that it isn’t set to sleep while you use Roon.
We also see a second Roon Server on your network, called “Mac-Tom-D” (192.168.0.222). If you don’t use that computer as a Roon Server anymore, please quit Roon Server there, so the app on your Mac only connects to the Nucleus One.
If the “looking for your Roon Server” screen comes back, please note the time so we can match it in the Nucleus logs.
I removed the old Roonserver on my Mac, as suggested by you. I also uploaded the log files, and added my user name before Logs, so you can find it easily.
Thanks for removing the old Roon Server. On our side we only see your earlier upload from the Mac, and the new one with the Nucleus One logs hasn’t come through. Could you please upload it again, following the steps in our previous post, and let us know here once it has finished?
